Hey guys, I'm looking to lift and get better tires on my truck and got an estimate for a 3 inch lift and alignment for 600 including parts and labor and about 220 per tire for 18s. Is this a good offer??

At $600 for all parts and labor about the only thing that would cover would be spacers in the front and blocks in the rear....it's gonna ride pretty rough. Take a look through the suspension forum. I would suggest you do some more research on lifts before you go ahead with anything.

PM'd him the other day and he said ours are getting ready to be built. Having mine customized a bit differently (see pic below) and if it comes out like I have asked it will have been worth the wait.

I've been studying the lift issue for a while now. As stated above read through the threads in the suspension forum esp. the stickies. I was quoted $400 for labor and alignment to install a 2" OME lift with 1.5" AAL's in the rear.

Here's a link explaining the general lift types:
    http://www.tacomahq.com/66/tacoma-leveling-lift-kit/

For your Prerunner you could also consider a spindle lift, pricey but better ride quality than the spacers.
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/203889-maxtrac-spindle-lift-2nd-gen-prerunners.html

and this one on two diff. brands:

Good luck and welcome to TW !

Yea...the Dakars been one of my sticking pts. My overall goal for the truck is to level out the rake, keep my stock UCA's, taller BFG MT's while maintaining or improving factory performance. It seems to be the consensus here that 2" of lift (OME 884's) does that. I have considered the Dakars minus the 3rd leaf which would be close to the 1.5" AAL lift but +/-$300 more, so . The only armor in the near future will be sliders. 3-5 yrs. down the road 885 or 886's, UCA's, under-armor and plate bumpers.

Your 2008 looks awesome BTW. Do you remember how much lift you got from the Dakars and how do you like the Cooper STT's compared to the Mud Terrains on your 2001 ?

I got the dakars for the lift and I know I will haul stuff. So far they have been used like I intended them to be. I moved from AL to NC with a full bed of stuff and a 6x12 uhaul trailer slammed full of boxes a huge dinosaur TV 2 couches, Chester drawers, coffee table side tables and more boxes. Let's say there wasn't room to put a body;)
If you lift it you should look into some lr uca's as they will correct the alignment. I don't remember the amount of lift but I did notice it got taller:) the cooper's are WAY better than the bfg's in all categories in my opinion. They had better traction on and off road and way better traction I rainy conditions. I did get the bfg used but they had half tread on them and got them for free so why not. But I won't waste money on any of the bfg's. If they are for free then Ya I'll take them because free is good. Also there is a guy on here selling his 886s for cheap, I'd snatch them up if I were you. I had them on mine for a while before I got my bumper and winch and didn't notice a difference in ride. Also look into getting rid of that sway bar.... Got rid of mine and it's a Cadillac, oh also when you lift it make sure you get 1/4 inch spacers for the center carrier bearing.... You'll feel a shutter and shake after the lift.

I was hoping that was what you thought on the Coopers :D.
I'll search for the 886's for sale, but pretty sure I don't want to go to a 3" lift, just my opinion.
    10-4 on CB drop .
    Thanks for your thoughts !!

Edit to add: I think these may be the 886's. Helluva deal !!

I opted out of the aluminum bumper and stuck with the steel one. While there is some weight difference, I just didn't feel the need for it personally on my truck. Finding a good aluminum welder is difficult. TIG is the only way to really go I think and even then, aluminum is a difficult metal to master, so I can see why Eric is having a hard time finding someone. When it comes to his steel bumpers, he is pretty fast. I got my front bumper kit in 2 weeks, and my rear bumper kit in 3 weeks. He is difficult sometimes to get in contact with, but he does have pride in his product.

So I am now back home from vacation! This is the first real vacation I have been on in about 6 years. I drove out to Houston and had lunch with some of the TW members out there, then headed up to Dallas to visit a couple of old friends. After that I drove to Abilene to see my oldest daughter and my granddaughter (19 months) and grandson (8 months I believe) and we had a great time.
Got to take them to the zoo and shopping, then we had an early 4th of July BBQ where I grilled out hot links, hotdogs and burgers, brats, and grilled corn! (yum!)
Then was the LONG drive. Straight shot from Abilene to the Navarre Beach area of Florida to spend the rest of the weekend with my dad! We rented a couple of waverunners and then later we went to the beach and had lunch at the restaurant at the Navarre Pier. Overall had a GREAT time. I hope all of you had a great 4th!

Heading out on Sunday the 30th, at 11:50 PM:

Standing on the Navarre Pier enjoying the ocean breeze and the sights. (LOTS of eye-candy on the 4th of July weekend!)

Even met a beautiful lady named Kennedy who just moved to the area and didn't know anybody yet. We had fun eating lunch together!

I hear ya! And I agree to an extent. That bumper looks great! I suppose if it is possible, I'll have to order, and try to forget about it. haha Wish that wasn't necessary. Look forward to seeing your rig.
