Thanks man.. Thats cool your truck is going to look sick with it.. I think that grille should be standard on all TRD models. I feel like Toyota doesn't really do much, on regards to looks, to separate the TRD models from the base models.

They did something awesome with this grille and then they go and ruin it with that new grille for the 16 TRD.

Anyways super stoked for you and can't wait to see it on.

I just plastidipped it to match my badges and wheels, looks 1000x better than the chrome! Yeah man, when I heard the grill was going around $1000 I was like WTF? But now after seeing yours that doesn't seem like that much haha

Looks good man!! I had a hard time deciding between blue or MGM when I got mine. The Pro grill with that color looks awesome.

krob32, Thanks bud. I know it looked good, but just never filled the void of wanting a Baja.

I like the TRD pro but I can't bring myself to get one due to the price tag.

Yeah they are pricey, but when modifying my TRD O/R I kept spending money. As many here it seemed like a never ending build. It seemed like I was always wanting to change something on my tacoma to be happy with it. I know the Icons were better than the Pro suspension, but I don't do severe off roading and you can't put a price on piece of mind that as my truck sits I like it with minor little things I want to change and covered under warranty.

I love it! Apples and Oranges in my opinion. The ride is better than stock. It is super easy to adjust the icons vs nearly impossible to adjust the toytechs. I really liked the bilsteins w/ just the eibach coils set a zero. They leveled the truck and they were better than stock, but as soon as you go higher on the billies, even with aftermarket coils the ride was stiff and you feel every bump. I would have stayed with that set up but I wanted to fit 33s, which they wouldn't fit with that set up.[/QUOTE]

So are you saying the Icons ride smoother on the road than the Toytec Bilstein coilovers?

Yeah they did. The higher you go on the Toytech coilovers it puts more tension on the coil spring making it a stiffer ride. The first set up I had was the 5100s with the eibach coils from toytech set at zero which gave 1.6" lift. They rode great better than stock, but it didn't level the truck out very well. The second option was to set them on the second clip, which would give you a 2.5" lift, but it would have been the same story as the toytech coilovers. Stiffer ride because of the preload on the coil spring.

On regards to the Icons, just be carefully with the size tires you get. I got 33s with my Icons. I had UCA and left the coils at what Icon send them at, which is 2" lift. I got my truck aligned, I kid you not, probably 6 times. Even though they got everything within spec and even what people recommended on here the truck did not ride straight and my tires looked like this in the front \ / and it drove me crazy...! That I consider getting rid of them and buying a baja suspension, which is what I wanted in the first place. I then sold my truck so yeah.. anyways... Hope this helps.

I went down the road of buying a TRD O/R and building it up. Maybe I wasn't good at it, but it was a lot of money. I ended up having an Icon Stage II w/ UCA and 33s. After installing the lift kit, tires, tonneau cover, etc I was closed to what my PRO cost me. Foreseeing the additional mods I wanted to do I would be over what I payed for it. In the mean while all of my mods were creating negative equity on my truck. Not that I financed the parts, but I was putting money into a truck passed it's value. At the end of the day I had just a TRD O/R. It definitely had appeal to sell later on, but it would be hard for someone to pay above KBB on a used truck. At least I wouldn't. It is also a never ending build you start spending so much money trying to make the truck perfect and there is always something that you want to change.

The truck never drove the same after I started modifying it. There is a price to modifying more than just monetary. After driving my mothers new Toyota and how smooth and comfortable it drove I regretted ever messing around with my new truck, but I knew I would never be happy with my stock TRD O/R (height, wheels, tires, chrome, etc). My advise to some of you, unless you are doing crazy off-roading keep it basic. I was the happiest with my TRD when I had Billy's and Toytech coils and one size bigger tire. Nothing saying you need a baja or PRO to be happy with a tacoma but unless you need extended travel CO it's not worth what you lose, mpgs, comfort, piece of mind.

In addition with my truck being brand new I was jeopardizing the warranty. I took my truck to dealership, the day I found my new truck!, to have them check the tailgate as it was having issues closing. I had a tonneau cover on it and they did not take long before trying to blame the problem on the me for putting a tonneau cover on it. I removed the cover just to prove them wrong. I could only imagine if something went wrong with the power train or something major. I could already see them blaming it on my suspension. To some this is probably not a problem, but for me it was always a concern.

In overall I think the Pro is a great fit for me. I always loved the look of the TRD Sport, but wanted the options of the O/R. I wanted the height and performance of the Baja. So I guess Toyota read my mind when the combined all 3.
