I'm looking to buy 2 light bars to put on my tacoma. One in the bumper and one on the cab. I'm not wanting to cut the grill out of my bumper so I'm going to mount it behind the bumper. What type of light bar would be best for this since it's going to be behind the lower grill? Also on the cab light bar what would be the best size to get? And what is the best way to mount it so you don't have to drill holes through the roof? Any help on either is appreciated. I'm not looking to spend 300 bucks on a light bar either. I'm gonna buy off of eBay I just need to know what type is the brightest for the way I'll be mounting.

Custom front bumper and rock sliders, glasspack muffler, shorten exhuast, abs killswitch, roof light bar, rear e locker.
I got mine on Amazon, but I don't think there's a way where you could mount without drilling, or unless you talk to the guys make mounts if they got something else. If you want brightest, get one from lifetimeled.com, they got one that's 7 watts each bulb, but it's 1000. Rigid's bar is only 3 watts.

Can't help you with the $300 part, try posting in the lighting section?

I bought a Rigid industries 30" lightbar for the front of my truck and had no issues mounting it on the aluminum crash beams. Nothing cut out of the front bumper and used a blank switch in the cab so everything is the same as it was.

I paid the money for the rigid and am glad I did. I plan on keeping this truck forever, why would I skimp on something that I plan on using a lot? If I keep the truck for 10 years (very very conservative estimate) and I use the lightbar every other weekend the cost comes out to $2 per use. I'm completely fine with that.

If the truck lasts forever, don't you want anything you put on it to last forever also?

I've heard of some people having brackets where they could drill into the door jam instead of the roof. I wouldnt mind doing that I just don't want holes in my roof you know

What would be the best size to go on the cab? And where could you get some brackets for mounting?

I think the 50" looks the best on the roof, and the brackets I have use the holes for the OEM roof rack.

You have an access cab, so unless you homebrew up some door jam mounts, you're gonna have to drill holes in the roof. If you did it right though, you'd never know the difference. Not to mention the mounts reaching over to the door jam would probably look bad.

Thanks for the replied guys. I'm just not comfortable with putting holes into my roof. Maybe if it were a 90s model but since this is a fairly new truck I can't bring myself to drill into the roof.

I got my light bar for my bumper today and already installed it. It was a lot easier than everyone on here acted. I didn't even have to take the bumper off. Just the grill and headlights and mounted it to the crash bar. Really simply and I couldn't be happier with it.

That's where I ordered mine. 87 bucks for my 32 inch. It seems to be pretty well built.

Here is a picture with it turned on at night. It doesn't do it justice at all because this thing is crazy bright.

I don't think the LED light bars will put out more or less light depending on how they are mounted. ;)

I haven't even measured my roof. What would be a good size without hanging over?
