JeepAndrew's AZ Trail Runs/Campouts

After blowing my electric air pump up on the Dragoons run, and in prep for the trip, I finally got around to doing one of the holy grail mods of the Jeep world; the AC compressor-to-onboard air pump conversion mod! Now, my previously unused AC compressor is now a 8-16 cfm (depending on engine RPMs) air pumping motherfucker!

 

Sooooo sweet! Possible taco mod?

 

Possibly! This mod would be for guys that don't mind not having AC, since the compressor would no longer be pumping refrigerant.

 

Shit! Nevermind. Got a lil one on the way who will need the ac + desert wheeling = ac is real nice to have.

 

Yes.... Somewhere here or Pirate or expedition portal a guy made a bracket and used a longer serpentine belt so he could have a/c AND a/c air compressor....

 

Also seen this done on the Jeep forums! Both ways are very popular among the Jeepers.

This would be pretty damn cool to see! I just filled my Co2 OBA tank today tho so we shall see how fast I can actually air up from about 20psi to 38psi

 

Rug Road/Turkey Creek 2015!!!

March 27th-29th (Friday-Sunday)

Background Info
Rug Road is an historic 23 mile AZ ranching/mining 4WD trail that crosses the Galiuro Mountains East of Mammoth, over to Turkey Creek and the town of Klondyke. *This trail is Rated 3.5 - 4/5 depending on summer storms* Due to the number of 4WD attendees, we may split into two groups that will be 20 minutes apart on the trail.

Highlights/Obstacles
-The Tire Chute
-Carpet Hill
-Table Mountain Pass
-Smelter/mine ruins at Table Mountain Mine
-Abandoned cabins at Bleak Spring and Parson's Grove
-Moab-style wheeling and scenery at east 1/4th of trail
-Bad-ass camping in Turkey Creek at east end of trail
-Saturday trip to the ghost-town site of Aravaipa and the historic Sein Fein, Head Center and Grand Central silver/lead mines

This trip is 2WD/PreRunner friendly via alternate route (aka "Operation Backdoor Penetration") from either Thatcher (East of Globe) or Wilcox (East of Tucson).

**4WD Route Requirements**
-Larger than stock tires
-Minimum 2" of lift
-Rock sliders
-CB Radio or HAM is recommended
-Tread Lightly

It's actually, Friday, March 27th they are meeting. Wrong days were inputted.

 

Both the first page intro and the current attendee list say 27th-29th..

 

Ah, ok. I didn't look at your post when I wrote that. I was wondering how he got the 28th. Figured it was written wrong. My bad.

 

Yeah, I can screw up anything, and got you confused too! So meet you guys Friday March 27th at 8:30 AM in Mammoth at the Circle K.

I am going to put in for the day off tomorrow, getting anxious all f-ing ready and four week, three days to go.

Got to figure out how to keep my steel box with recovery gear from shifting around in the bed of the truck. Might just run two 3/8" bolts thru the bottom of the box, through the floor of the bed and put nylock nuts on them. You know as soon as it is done I will want it somewhere else.......

 

I saw you were a pretty handy carpenter, why not whip up something that just slides down on top of the box or on the sides that takes the space up in between box and bedsides. That way you can figure out if you like it there before you bolt it all down.

 

Gonna have to look into this

Yup! My newly converted compressor aired mine and Derrick's 33" tires (8 total) from 12/15 to 30 psi in under 4 minutes

Plus that link has a handy write-up on how to convert the compressor to self-lubrication, using high temp grease! No need for in-line oilers!
