I used to have an 06 Tacoma and now I have a 2010 tacoma both v6 automatic transmission’s. It seems to me that the 06 shift points were much better than the 2010. Does anyone know if Toyota changed the shift points on the Tacomas automatic transmission from 06 to 10? If so is there a way to adjust the shift points on my 2010 back to the way my 06 was?

There are no differences in the shift schedules between those years. There are differences in the throttle mapping which will affect how much engine torque you can generate between a shift is executed. That's likely the difference you're experiencing between the years. The earlier truck has a more aggressive throttle profile which will make the earlier truck feel a bit "sportier".

I did the OV tune way back when on my 2010. I have no complaints and gas mileage improved.

thanks for the very interesting and informative details. Is there a way to change the 2010 to the 06 throttle mapping?

Easy peasy with the right hardware/software.

I offer enhanced calibrations that will even further improve over the 2006 calibration. Should that be of interest, or if you’d simply like a 2006 throttle mapping, we offer the hardware/software as well as having a international network of individuals who can help get you taken care of.
