Colin that trailer is amazing! First off, it is awesome to see the HF in such great shape after what i imagine was plenty used =D Your example and trailers like it are what inspired me to use this platform, history has shown it to be plenty durable when setup and taken care of properly.

Secondly i think ill be taking notes on YOUR setup, i have a feeling i may look into a suspension upgrade in the future, it is an area i overlooked and am currently using the stock setup.

And i actually think the red cross members are kind of cool, a nod to humble origins of a great build Colin!

The cage around it gives it some extra rigidity. I'm sure without it, the stock frame would be a twisted mess by now.

My suspension is overdone for what I do now. I built it when I lived in florida, where there was much more high speed wheeling.

If you want to do a nice leaf spring upgrade, look to JBerry's build for a great leaf sprung setup.

    Just the basics
Just discovered this build thread. I've been wanting to do a moto hauler but with the smaller HF trailer. From reading posts about HF trailers on moto forums it seems the wheels are the weakest link for off road travels. I'd love to do this but utilizing a tacoma axle/wheel combo.

Do you remember the details of doing the center spine with hitch receiver in the rear? Are you using the original springs and axle and swapped the hubs to acommodate larger wheels and tires? I've been considering one of these but I want to be able to run 285/70/17 tires on it and didn't know what would be necessary to swap out.

Since you already spent $ on the spine and welding, wouldn't buying the square tubing ($350-400) for the frame vs the HF ($320-350) be a better choice?
