My driveway is about 20 degrees. I was backing out of my garage in "R" and then moved it to "D"- but with my feet off the brakes...the vehicle started to slide back and the Slip Indicator came on with a slight vibration and buzzing sound. Once I push the accelerator the Slip Indicator turn off...is this normal?

I did it again and the same thing happen. I thought the HAC would put the vehicle at a stop...but it kept sliding until the sidewalk. To stop it from sliding any further i accelerated the truck back into the garage.

How does HAC work...there is no button like DAC.

    YIKES !!!!!
You should only select forward once your truck comes to a complete stop in reverse with your foot on the brake preventing the truck from moving .
Selecting forward while the truck continues reversing will seriously damage your transmission .A 4000 pound truck will cause the forward clutch to chatter and illuminate the slip light if you dont come to a complete stop . This is a big " NO NO " and your transmission was never designed to operate this way .This a horrible driving habit that too many people take for granted . Yes , its an automatic , but needs to be treated with some care .To answer your question - yes , the slip indicator will illuminate if you do not come to a complete stop before selecting forward . Is this normal ? No , the vehicle should not be operated this way .
Use your emergency brake every day .With a 20 % driveway slope , I hope you are using your E-brake before you put the transmission in park .
If I am reading this correctly , Does the slip indicator come on when you come to a complete stop before you put the transmission into forward gear ?
For the benefit of the doubt , read this

    HAC only triggers if:
    • Shifter is in a forward-driving position (D, 4, 3, etc)
    • Vehicle is stopped
    • Brake pedal is firmly pressed
HAC then activates when you take your foot off the brake, before you step on the gas. Effectively all it does is hold the brakes for an extra 5 sec max after you take your foot off the brake pedal.

I actually did this by accident. Normally when coming home from work, I just pull the Taco into the garage, but during this particular weekend - i decided to backup and move forward to center the truck in the space. Not realizing the vehicle should be at a complete stop and then putting it into "D" after "R". Its a brand new 2015 w/ only 2k miles on it...and don't plan to do this again...hopefully it didn't ruin anything.

I did do it again but this time applying the brake and then put it into "D"...w/o any SLIP INDICATOR light coming on when pushing the accelerator. Thanks for the advice!

After owning and operating a transmission shop for most of my life and if I had to guess , 1/2 of the drivers out there dont come to a complete stop before shifting into the opposite direction . You can tell just by looking at the internal parts of the trans . With this said , it brings a lot of business into the door and use to put a big smile on my face :D so if you wish , please continue $$$$$$$.

For our members here that are reading this , it,s 27 hours labor to remove , overhaul and re-install the transmission . The parts involved cost about the same as the labor if you continue driving like that . Use the brakes and come to a complete stop and chances are you wont have to see a guy with a smiling face :D

Yea I don't doubt you want my arm and my leg to fix it :D

I'm pretty anal about only shifting when completely stopped, and I'm not afraid to rag on whoever's driving either. I mean, I'll definitely be there if they don't listen and they're taking it into the smiling man :D
