Greetings all. Just bought a 2012 xrunner with 26k miles. Super charger would be great but I'd like to know what mods provide most gains while keeping her NA. I'm looking for best cold air intake, full exhaust if available, and possibly a chip, although I'm a bit sketchy on the chip thing. The chip hp claims I've seen are ridiculous and I don't want to void warranty or damage my electrical. Any ideas on these and expected gains would be appreciated. Also, if you have any ideas I haven't thought of chime right in.

More mods to come.
You won't find many I exhaust that will increase your horsepower by much. You could try the trd exhaust and see if that helps. I am sure others will chime in with some better answers. Anyway Welcome to TW!

Don't waste your money on exhaust and intake. It has been discussed 1000 times how you get negligible hp or torque with both of these mods. All you will get is exhaust and intake noise............unless you like the sound, then by all means go ahead. But don't expect power gains. The tacoma's air intake is a cold air intake already

Save up your pennies and get a supercharger if you must have more power. Just think, both those mods will add up to $600+, almost 15-20% the cost of a supercharger.

I did some snooping while waiting for replies and discovered there isn't much available. Kinda disappointing numbers given the size of this engine. I did see k and n's website boasting about eight hp with their cold air intake. Anyone try it?

Also saw a few header suggestions but for the price I'd rather go for a sc down the road then pair with the appropriate exhaust.

Corvette? Captain Winky still works. Not ready for the vette years yet. Besides, I've written gm off after a second p.o.s. Chevy and the discovery of a Chinese battery cable in the back of a CTSV, whilst changing a battery at work. Apocalypse now please!

Christian, are you talking about your supercharger specifically or for everyone? Everyone else who has it seems to really like it.

You are on the right track, you need a good intake ( I like the Volant ram air or URD for max power, just change out the muffler with the loudest one you can handle to maintain low end or 2 1/2" cat back with the loudest muffler you can handle for mid and top end ( I like a round straight through muffler 14" or 18"), an intake spacer to regain lost low end and a tuner will be needed to add fuel to maximize the results.. those mods should be good for 20-30 hp and torque... The next step would be a full exhaust with headers... Without headers and 32" tires and 4 x 4 I'm running 7.05 0-60 but now I'm spinning too much, so now that it's warming up I can try to get into the 6s...

    Good luck....

Just to clarify....your saying don't bother with the snorkel part cold air set up, or do you mean an actual intake manifold.
