I want to do a small lift. I am aiming for 2" in the front and aal in the rear. I have been combing through the many threads that exist about this topic already but I cant seem to find the answers to my specific questions. I think for once the issue is too much information rather than not enough. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with my questions.

I have am 07 trd off road with stock suspension and no aal. As I said I am shooting for a 2" lift. (1.5 to 2 is acceptable). I don't want alignment issues and I don't want to have to get a new uca (yet). I think I want to go with new coils to avoid some of the preload issues that are often discussed. This brings me to my questions below.

    - If I stay below 2" of lift will I have any alignment issues?
    - with a 2" aal do I need a transfercase drop?
    - I was looking at the lift kit from toytec (link below) and I am unsure if this will work for me. The description says "1.5" or 3" lift kit with Eibach front coils (3" average lift is achieved with coils and setting the shock adjustment on the second C clip setting from the bottom)".
Does this mean I can get 1.5" lift if I use the bottom setting? Will there be any preload with this?
    - if this kit will give me what I want in terms of a lift will I need anything else in terms of parts?

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Bilstein-Adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks_p_132.html#

I would really appreciate any input you guys have on this. If there is another type of lift in this same price range that you think would be better I am definetly open to suggestions.

    Thanks.

Id recommend grabbing 5100's in all 4 corners. Stick with the stock coils up front and put it at the 1.75in setting, You will get right at 1.75in of lift. Then grab a 2inch single AAL for the rear of your truck. This will be nearly an identical lift to the one above but much cheaper (Toytec charges way to much really)

What is your budget and what are you lifting for? Looks or actual off road use? After lifting mine and reading threads for a year before my choice I have been very happy. I would recommend just getting bilstein 5100 front and back. OME 884-885 coils and a 3 leaf AAL from wheelers. Set the bilstein in front to 0 setting and that should give you 2-2.5 in lift and no alignment issues. If you aren't concerned with budget their are way nicer options like icons etc and others who have them will probably chime in.

Get the 5100s and go with either OME 884 or the eibach 1.6" coils.

Unfortunately budget is a consideration. I would like to stay below $700 mark if possible. I want the lift for looks but mostly for some light off roading, mostly dirt logging roads, and sometime a small sections of tight rockier double track.

Hello Greg, I have a 2009 Double Cab 4x4 and I am currently doing something very similar. I bought 5100's front and back and a 1.5" lift block for the back. I took it to a local auto shop to have everything installed, 2.5" in the front and the 1.5" blocks in the back, and the mechanic posed some concerns. I hoping that some more experienced folks on TW can help me (and you) out.

    1. Mechanic said that it will ride "stiff as sh*t, like a one-ton truck" due to the 2.5" setting up front.
    2. Mechanic said I am going to need to adjust the camber, possibly get wheel spacers, and get new UCA's to manage the 2.5" lift
    3. Mechanic also said that the 2.5" setting on the Bilstein won't actually lift the front 2.5" more like 1.5" but the block will lift the back 1.5" for a very funny looking ride.

I hope this is not true and everything works out as I had hoped a total of 2.5" in front, 1.5" in back for a nice leveled lift. more experienced Tacoers want to comment on this, I would greatly appreciate it thanks!

Elliot I wouldn't recommend putting the 5100 at the 2.5 setting for the lift. 1.75 like suggested above with stock coils is as far as would go with the preload. I would get new coils and put the 5100 at the 0, .85 or with stock coils highest 1.75 setting. It would ride very stiff. You will have to get an alignment after the lift is added but anything under 3 in of lift you should be fine with stock uca depending on tires you might have some rub. I don't recommend blocks for lift. I still stick with my first comment for a cheap good solid lift for around $700 call the guys at wheelers or DSM and they can square you away with more questions.

    $475 buys 5100s at all 4 corners and a Wheeler's 3 leaf AAL.

It's the best budget lift I can think of, and what I'm running.

I've been working on the same question as you. In the end I think I will go with a set of 884 coils MAYBE 885 but I really want to stay at or under 2" of lift. My off-roading needs are the same as yours. My suggestion to you would be 884 OME coils with 5100s. My shop is custom fabricating my AAL so they will have a little more play in how the rear sits.

Headstrong coil/Bilstein kit is another great option.
You get 5100s on all four corners, Coils of your choice, 1/4" top spacer for drivers side and the Deaver AALs with new center pins.

Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners, OME 884 coil springs and and an AAL. $600 at headstrong offroad. ~2 inches of lift at a very affordable price. Truck will ride nicely, you won't need UCAs...life will be good my friend.
