    I've done a mod or two
    Suspense is high around my place, I just operated on the truck. New radiator and a complete A/C system rebuild, currently being vacuumed down and I haven't fired it up yet.

Truxxx 3" level kit. (Temporary) Wet Okole seat covers. BoxRocket bed rack. Bora 0.75 wheel spacers All pro sliders. BAMF BPV. B&M trans cooler.
    I've run K&N filters in 2 previous vehicles. I've since done a ton of research on air filters. My conclusion was K&N and some others offered higher air flow rates and most stock air filters had the best filtration. I'd rather have cleaner air than more air. So I run a K&N on my Victory, which only sees about 3000km a year and OEM filters on my daily drivers. Just my 2 cents on the subject, to each there own.

    Nope all wrong.

    Go with Toyota 90915-YZZD3, from the Tundra and 4runner.

    Just like our stock filter but a half inch longer, more filter material.

    Last time I bought a filter they gave me a D3 I'm pretty sure instead of the D1.

    I ran the k and n drop in filter on my 99 ford ranger for over a decade, no issues.
    i ran one on my 99 taco for about two months before I got a p0171. These trucks don't like em. I've heard plenty of other members have issues as well. Some don't and some do. I imagine most would rather be safe than sorry

    My truck has 130k on it now and still has the same filter?

    I've ran a k&n for almost 40k.. Only issue was I over oiled it once and clogged up my idle air control valve... Cleaned it out and problem went away!

    Means nothing other than the filters and test wasn't done properly.
    K&N has a prefilter that needs to be run in conditions like that. So do the dry filter manufacturers that you favor.

    The only person here screaming HP gains is you. I never mentioned it once but you keep bringing it up. Anybody who buys a drop in filter of any brand and expects HP gains is going to be disappointed. None of them do that. You buy a washable drop in filter to get better air filtration and so you don't have to keep buying them.
    Keep smacking that paper filter to "clean it" you just destroyed the internal structure of the media and opened it up to contamination.
    That is not the proper way in any shape or form to clean a dry filter. Or any filter for that matter.

    I've cleaned my filter twice in 124,000 miles. It's a weekend project, not a 30 minute job.
    If the process is rushed, it will cause problems cause it ain't ready. If you do it properly, it will last a long time and filter cleaner than any paper filter.

    Not done "properly"? If anything, My tests were weighted AGAINST the OEM filter, as it was during one of the most dry conditions we had at the time, while the K&N was tested during a wetter time of year. The lab report from when I ran the K&N actually had a note asking if I was even running ANY air filter. New engines are built using much tighter tolerances than a decade old Ford Ranger. After seeing my report, I wouldn't run a K&N filter on a lawn mower. That being said, the bottom line is, run what makes you warm and fuzzy. Its your truck.

    Also.......Modern filters aren't "Paper", but rather a synthetic mesh. They not only filter better than any gauze filter out (smaller particles), but hold more dirt too.
