Then again with the exchange rate at nearly $1.31 they may not be looking as bad anymore

Sounds good I gotta run for a little bit but if you let me know which kit option interests you I'll give you the part numbers you would need to check and also a harness cost.

I've had a member confirm no good ground in his driver side door. That would make this the second occurrence. I'm working with him to confirm a couple of details but will be making a change to instructions for the listed ground points on the mirrors.

The good news is I've been sending out the early kits with longer ground cables that can reach into the cab for a solid ground point.

It's a bit odd that most trucks are fine grounding in the door and a few aren't, but I'd like the install to be bulletproof for everyone so I'll adjust the recommended ground location to an area that should work out well for every truck.

I'll confirm in here once I've updated the instructions (likely tomorrow).

I just finished installing the kit. Packaging was great and the quality of the harness was first rate.

I was one of the people who did not have continuity between the door and the cab so I grounded the circuit on the kick plate bracket inside the cab. Everything works great!

Hi Jaime's, I am doing my install now and was wondering if I understand your instructions correctly. Do I run a wire or coat hanger above the steel pipe from passenger side or below it .Instructions state above pipe but below it looks easier. Is there a reason to run above because below looks clear . Thanks David .

    Hey David,

I've always run above, but if you have a clear path there is really no reason why you can't run below. Also I'm going to be changing the mirror ground locations. If you haven't already done the mirror wiring I would recommend testing your ground first. If you don't have the means to do so then the ground location in the post right above this one is a great grounding point to use for the two mirror ground cables.

Just got home so I'll keep an eye out if for any more questions you might have.

Hi Jaimes , will the ground wire you sent reach into the kick panel area to ground. So I will pull two wires through the rubber boot when I run my wires .Thanks Again .

    Yes and yes

I purposely sent the early kits out with long enough cables to reach into the cab and ground to a point behind the kick panel if needed. It was a bit of a back up plan I case the extra length was needed and only started doing that because one of my installs had a bad door ground. Now that there has been a second truck with that problem I think it will be best to keep supplying the longer ground cables and adjust the grounding points to the position that duck has shown in his picture. I've tested that point before and it is a solid ground.

It's too bad I'm so far away or I'd just give you a hand getting it set up. There has been a few order out to MA so maybe someone nearby would be able to help.

This would be an breeze for an audio installer since it basically boils down to popping some panels and running cables... Just don't know if they would want to do it since it's not audio related.

hey bud, I was wondering for these kits, have you looked into mirrors that have built in convex (blind spot) mirrors? does Toyota even have something like this?

Working on that right now! I'll have a supply of heated aspherical mirror glass by the end of the month.

I don't believe there are any Toyota brand mirrors that are ashperical and a direct fit for the Tacoma. The link Nathan posted above is the only option I'm aware of which should be available soon. Now would be a good time to do it while you are already in there and changing out the mirrors.
