Does anyone have any experience with these types of mounts? Have any opinions on them? See pic. Thanks everyone.

It does not look that clean or scratch free now but has pulled myself out of many a slick spot and many a truck out of a mud pit

I love the idea. but im stuck between this or a full steel aswell. I really like the design but I wonder how it would fair in a crash? but for the price you cant really beat it.

I have researched this type of winch mount. I will be getting this exact one as the money permits. I decided on the US Offroad design after looking at others, and not wanting the full plate bumper.

I didn't want the full plate bumper until I came across this thread in the armor section about plate bumper vs crashes. someone hit two fullsize cows with his and only had minimal damage to his front end.

Yes! If you like the way your stock bumper looks and you want to add some real recovery points (or a winch) to the front this is the way to go. I would not want to pull on anything with that stock loop Toyota put on our trucks. I've been totally happy with mine since installing it last year.

And there is a tread where a guy hit a deer at highway speeds with full steel bumper, it totaled his truck. Minimum damages to the body. But 19k in damages.

Here is the section of the forum. I never seen the one about a deer. That sounds like a cheaply made steel bumper honestly. I love the stock look and some of the bumpers that's what makes it the hard. Ive hit a deer before in a f250 and only craked the grill, put a small dent in a bumper and the logo fell off. But then again the deer was running along side the truck before it cut infont of me.

Wow, I didn't know about these. That looks incredible. Keep the stock bumper and the stock look of the truck with better recovery options. That's exactly what I want. It looks like you have to cut out the lower part of the bumper. Is that true? Also, it looks like the lower part of the mount replaces the factory skid plate but it's hard to tell. Can someone confirm and or get some under-body pics?

You are right, you have to cut the plastic lower half of the bumper cover. The only other thing you have to cut off is the stock loop that is welded to the subframe. You can see a few pics in my post from last year:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/us-offroad-bumper-install-with-winch.390092/

Overall it's not that hard of an install. The part that worried me the most was cutting the cover, but just measure carefully and take your time and you'll be ok. Regarding the skid plate, this did not replace that. It just adds a little protection in front of the skid plate.

It's hard to tell in this pic cause of the lighting, but you can see where the winch mount ends and my RCI skid plate begins...

Itrs been on my truck for about 1 1/2-2 years has been used a pull point to pull me out by a snatch strap, has winched myself out and others out several times. Below are pictures from my last fun run to the texas gulf coast

    20160226_180223_edit_1456586341302_9dea1279b472f706193eb0aac0ae165906cae2c1.jpg
Two winch pulls needed to drag this guy out of the marsh mud, 1st on I needed to use a winch extension strap then just the winch. Never worried about the bumper moving.

I love mine. I have only had it for a few months. I got mine powder coated at a local shop to match the truck's white.
Got installed at The Diesel Shop in Miami.

I think I am going to take mine off and get it powdered coated this summer. It has to hold up better then this rattle can job I did.

Here's mine. I absolutely love it. The quality is very good. Great fitment. I installed a 9000# winch and it will physically drag the truck with all four wheels locked up.

I have a 2015 DCSB TRD Off Road 4x4 with stock suspension. Would I need to add stiffer springs on the front suspension if I used the mount pictured by OP with a 8-9000 # winch?

I think you will get some front end sag with this and a winch. I wanna say they both weigh close to 150 ish lbs.
