THIS GROUP BUY IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED.

THIS THREAD CONTAINS OLD INFO, OLD PICS, AND OLD PRICING. THE CONVERSATION HAS BEEN MOVED OVER HERE:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/off-grid-engineering-dual-battery-system-q-a.468553/

    Hi all!

My name is Matt and I've been designing battery systems for off-road and expedition vehicles for quite a few years. I was even lucky enough to have a small feature in Overland Journal (Winter 2008) for a system I designed in a 2003 Tacoma. Since then, I have designed and installed multiple custom power systems in a variety of vehicles.

I am now producing battery trays and full wiring kits for Toyota Trucks under the name of OFF-GRID ENGINEERING, LLC.

    New website is live! www.**************

There are now several options to choose from. I have side-by-side dual battery trays that mount in the factory battery location for 2nd Gen Tacomas (3rd Gen Tacomas testing pending). Also available is my "split battery system" that mounts one battery on the passenger side and one battery on the driver's side; both utilizing brand new aluminum trays.

A brief run down of trays available:

-Dual Battery Tray for factory location - Fits ALL 2nd Gen Tacomas (1st and 3rd Gen pending testing)
-Single battery, passenger side tray - Fits 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacomas with ATRAC
-Driver's side tray, aka: Blue Sea ML-ACR mount - Fits 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen Tacomas

All trays are CAD designed and cut via water jet out of 1/4" 5052 aluminum. All necessary mounting hardware is included for each tray.

The BEST way to take advantage of the clean installs my trays offer is to purchase them with a full wiring kit.

    Here is what you get:

-Blue Sea ML-ACR, 500 amp, voltage sensing relay w/ pre-wired harness and in-cab switch

-2 AWG cables. 1/0 AWG cables available for a small up-charge. High strand count, super flexible, made in USA. They are pre-terminated with aviation grade lugs that are hydraulically crimped. Just the right lengths to get the job done. They are finished with Techflex sheathing and 3M, marine-grade, adhesive lined heat shrink.

    -Four Mil-Spec terminals

    -Starter cable extension kit

-All necessary mounting hardware, extra heat shrink, and zip ties!

Introductory for TacomaWorld and ExPo members:

Full wiring kit for side-by-side battery installation: $
Full wiring kit for split battery kit: $
Custom cable kits, Blue Sea fuse boxes, inline ANL fuses, circuit breakers, etc. all available!!

Please call me for any custom needs!

Price shown are for Group buy only. System prices will likely go up soon!

Please See Post 401 on page 21 for current pricing!

I have a solution for that as well. I'll hopefully have pics of an add-on product by the end of the day.

Even without my solution though... The kit above provides plenty of cable to mount the relay pretty much anywhere on the drivers side of the engine compartment. Most people place it on top of the fuse box. I agree this is not ideal though. Stay tuned...

You make a nice product. Just out of curiosity, do you make any customer battery trays for other non-common batteries? I have an XS Power D3400 that i'd like to have a nice tray for. unfortunately nobody makes one.

I have the Blue Sea ML-ACR sitting at home in the box still but I would love to get the full kit. Is there ANY way to get the kit without the ACR? I would even like to have the wiring harness you have made that connects each battery to the ACR. Hope we can work something out!

Holy crap thats an expensive battery! Haha. Let me see if I can find the dimensions and let you know if it will fit my current tray. Are you interested in the passenger side mount?

Here it is! The OGE solution to cleanly mounting your ML-ACR relay. This is the optional, driver's-side battery tray with ACR mount and OGE tie-down. It matches the passenger side tray already in production and provides a super tidy place for the relay and cables to hide.

This optional kit will come with a new battery tray for the drivers side battery with ML-ACR mount, an OGE battery tie-down, new tie-down rods, and two threaded knobs. $99.00 bucks when purchased with a system.
