Confused about perf parts for our engines

    Okay I'm a Drag racer and know that perf parts such as headers , intakes , CAI and superchargers make huge hp gains on race engines

    Reading alot of posts on here alot of members ask about perf upgrades such as myself . All I see is other forum members trying to discourage others from doing these swaps . I see some saying not worth it or waste of time or to much $$$$ . When did doing engine upgrades become such a waste of time & money

    I keep hearing 1 hp here 3hp there and that's it . Last time I installed an intake on a sbc that was a 20 -30hp gain . A set of good flowing headers was 30 plus hp gain . Even a good exh system with free flowing mufflers made significant hp gains

    I'm just confused why everything you want to put on your toyota motor is a waste of money and no hp gains

    I know someone here would like to have a 350hp 4 cylinder , 350 - 400 hp V6 and a 600 hp V8

    LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
    Its because the newer vehicles have been nearly maxxed out in power, and much more efficient.
    Forced induction is one of the only ways to get substantial HP gains on modern vehicles.
    Most auto manufacturers dont leave much HP on the table these days, unlike older vehicles where there was more untapped power.

    Read through the dyno threads in my sig. There aren't hardly any graphs for your engine in there, but yours are out there as well. Especially on Custom Tacos website. If you want to make power on a 2RZ or 3RZ, it is very simple and easy. Primarily in the form of boost, but those engines, with efficiency mod upgrades, will make decent gains. Some gains are more noticed when multiple parts are added together.

    Put in some rods and pistons......and now you can put down some serious power.

    Even with my current set up it was no match today for a long steep 6% grade (Cajon pass) and 40-50 mph Santa Ana wind gusts . I usually can climb this grade @ 60-70 mph at 2200-2400rpm as long as no one pulls in front of me . If someone does it's down shifting and staying at 3k rpm until I can get my momentum back

    Today even with the strong wind gusts I could barely hold 60mph and The transmission was hunting for lower gears the entire 10 mile Cajon pass grade

    This is Why I'm asking about any perf parts like perf aftermarket camshafts and such to get as much hp as I can out of this 4cylinder

    I'm running a TRD Supercharger low boost set up right now (4.5psi) , pink injectors , Gibson cat back , K&N FIPK CAI and have a Doug Thorley header not yet installed

    I've read that I can go with a 8psi pulley since I've got pink injectors and with the stock ECU , just need a aftermarket fuel pump

    Correct, AZ that will still be less than the power output turbo kits generally speaking. And that is what those guys did, or do. Any more boost or power will probably need an aftermarket ECU of some sort. Definitely upgrade your fuel pump and install a new fuel filter.

    Correct me if I am wrong comma but does your supercharger have an intercooler in the kit?

    Nope no intercooler no room due to side mount supercharger and TRD doesn't offer one because of this

    That is what I thought. That is why so many go with the 5th injector kit and or meth injection. Due to the known knocking potential from no inter cooling system.
