    If you lost the key to a Pop & Lock tailgate lock, give customer service a call and you can purchase a new set through key fulfillment!

    Unfortunately it was my actual Toyota tailgate key. I have a smart fob with a laser cut key insert, but the tailgate lock; in a stroke of genius by some Toyota engineer is a plain key. I am going to install a Pop & Lock actuator though so that I can put that key in a safe place.

    For the Tacoma we have a codeable lock that uses your ignition key or we have a power lock that locks and unlocks with your key fob! Hope one of those options will be a good fit for you!

    The power lock is my path. If only it could unlock with touch or proximity of the smart fob. :pray:

    We are continuously needing to reinvent our selves due to OEM creating trucks with more and more aftermarket like features. Smart tech is certainly something that is on our radar! :)

    I just meant by proximity. So you don't have to wire it into the cab. Essentially you'd only need to provide power if it was self contained.

    are referring to a separate button like the tailgate button on the Venza, Highlander and Sequias? If so that would be pretty sweet and I would have done the power locking tailgate from the factory. I keep seeing people say they wish this was an option from the factory. When building my truck I saw it listed as an option but one that came in at $250 and knew I could order a Pop and Lock for less than half that and passed on it. Not sure if it's just a Southeast thing or guys are just missing the option when building these trucks.

    Thanks for the instructions. I installed the power lock last night and these worked out great. Also thanks to Mesojdm as I connected to the passenger door circuit with the guidance he provided.

    A button would be cool but I want hands free. Even if it was like the Fords (Escape I think) where you kick your feet under and the gate opens.

    Pretty sure that they will only work on the frameless glass rear doors so for you no.

    Give Pop & Lock Tech Support a call (800-342-5911) because we do have a line of power upgrades for truck caps. We do cover ARE but I would call just to double check application specifics.

    @Pop&LockLLC

    I just called your phone line... rep said you have no solutions for me. Again, I have an ARE Overland cap. If you have a solution, I am 100% in.

    I'm sorry, the rep is correct, my apologies. Our power line currently only applies to the ARE tonneau covers. This is a line of products that we are working to expand, so this is something that I will pass along to our R&D team!

    I also have the ARE Overland cap and would be extremely interested. Also in the Quick Sand.:cool:
