My compressor lives behind the passengers side tail light. It's hardwired to my battery and it's very nice just to flip a switch for air. See if yours will fit behind there. Remove the tail light and there's a metal piece of the body behind the tail light that it'll mount to with the base of the compressor facing rear against the back of the tail light. I rerouted the intake to the small cubby and then wired in a pressure switch so the pump cuts off above 120 or 140PSI. Then extended the wires to the existing switch and put that next to the AC outlet in the bed. I believe I used 10gauge wire (might have been 12).

I'll be sure and take a look behind there next weekend when I get a chance. Do you happen to have a picture so I can reference it?

I can get you some. It's raining today and tomorrow, but I'll see what I have/can get. They'll be awkward angles tho because it's hard to see from up underneath where the tailpipe comes out. Ive had it installed for several years and not a problem at all. I found the info in the OBA megathread.

Sorry to cloud up our build thread but here's some links:

Youll need the pressure switch or else you'll be running back and forth to turn off the compressor before you blow lines:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/oba-on-board-air-mega-thread-bs.299523/page-5 (post 84)

Heres a pic of his install:

I pretty much followed this for the main idea and then added my own flare in some aspects like relocating the intake. I can help you figure out the wiring if you decide to go this route and need any help.

Well, it's been a year since the vehicle purchase so since the wife is going to Vegas next weekend for a George Strait concert with her friend (lucky ducks), I'll be at home writing an order and working on the truck in my spare time with my dog!

    Thank you Amazon Prime!!

I was looking at my old 1st Gen build and noticed how little Toyota put into reducing road noise with sound deadening material from the factory.

    The 2nd Gen:

and the 1st Gen, notice the lack of sound deadening material or the quality to be found:

Also the wife is in love with the old 1st Gen so she is pushing for Duratracs instead of Maxx's, ohhhh and I thought my mind was made up.... the only issue now is the Duratracs don't come in 255/85/16, just 285s so that would mean CMC..... hmm.

Tread life and low tread quality are pretty huge factors and I feel like the Duratracs fall short to the Maxx's in those categories... :annoyed:

Can't you "test out" the tires from discount for 30 days? I think that's their return policy. Anyways you could try it out and if she doesn't like them then switch to duratracs.

Got this to install for some on board air at some point. Just have to figure out:
    1.) Where I can/should mount it
2.) What size wire to run from the battery to the compressor and if I can just snip the gator clamps off and splice the wires together

    It's a VIAIR 440

Other than the OBA, washed, compounded and polished the truck for the first time since buying it, gotta be careful with the California sun that it won't start doing damage to the factory clear coat and look like just about every other car you see driving around:

Got my required weekly haircut :poking: and came back out to my stud of a pup watching and waiting for me

Couldn't help but snap a few pics of him and the truck

They make you get weekly hair cuts??? Didn't think hair could grow a measurable amount in a week

Yeah technically the order says you don't have to, but at the end (of nearly every order) it says it's at your command's discretion so naturally it's a weekly requirement --- that's so many mods for almost $600/year in haircuts if it's $10 a haircut :(

If I read correctly, you covered everything under the carpets, the door panels, and the behind vertical partition under the rear window with Dynamat. I think I also read you pulled down the headliner, so did you do under that as well? Did you also end up covering the trans tunnel? It looks like you used Dynamat Xtreme and was it the adhesive backed product? Would you mind telling me how much material you bought to do the job?

I'm glad to hear you are satisfied with the difference the Dynamat makes. I've used Dynamat in the past and have been very pleased with the results as well. The only part of the job I'm still on the fence about is pulling down the headliner. If you had to do it over again, do you think doing under the headliner was worth the effort? Thanks.

Eh yeah but I like having hair
I had my stupid looking high and tight for a while. Junior guys have the choice to either no guard shave each week or grow a retarded looking high and tight haha

After that 1st deployment then you can do whatever you want it just has to be a zero even fade up to 3" max

    Negative.
I did everything EXCEPT the door panels, I didn't have enough to get those done.
    So I did:
    The headliner
    Everything under the carpet
The back wall under the rear window
Most of the transmission tunnel -- some areas were hard to get to due to, well tranny stuff being in the way

I can't recall exactly how many sheets I used but it was along the lines of one of these packs LINKED HERE. I bought mine off of a Facebook re-sale page here on Camp Pendleton. Yes it was the Dynamat Xtreme with the adhesive backing. I used about 1 to 1 1/4 of those boxes that I linked, so about 10ish 18"x23" sheets or so.

Oh the results are absolutely unbelievable especially with the 1st Gens that didn't sound deaden their vehicles as well out of the factory. I would absolutely do the headliner again if I were to re-do it. In fact that was the one part that had zero sound deadening material on it so if you live in a state where it rains a lot -- I'm here in CA now so no, but before joining the USMC I was in WA so yes.... especially in heavy rain it will deaden the "ting ting ting" or rain dramatically.

Let me know if you have any other questions or need any other pics I can see what I have laying around if anything more.
    Hope that helps!

Just bought one of Bob's GNTX-453 Series Mirrors. Should come in handy pretty much all the time but especially when on our road trip next fall when you're unsure of the temperature and it's right around 30-34 degrees.
Ice is never fun to find unexpectedly
