Auxiliary switches, alternative locations?

I like this A LOT. I would do this in a heart beat but thats where my parking brake handle is.

 

Exactly what I was looking for! They don't seem to have any panels for these toyota switches. Only the carling rocker switches

I know this is an old thread but I am posting here because it's the right content. I know I saw something before here on TW that had some aux switches placed in the panel below the heater controls but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any help in finding it is appreciated.

 

Make sure you pick the right ones. They have 2 kinds - center console under heater controls and dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. They are different form factor

Yeah I know about them but I am talking about switches put in the dash panel directly below the heater/ac panel, above the panel where the factory switches are placed. He put in basic toggle switches from Radio Shack.

How can I fit the wires in the sunglass holder? My 6 switches won't go :/ @Iggy. you know? Or @ramonortiz55

Are you looking putting 6 switches in the sunglass holder and wondering about the cable management?

If so, you can't use switch backs, you need to have everything on female spade terminals.

 

To get the wires up there they have to be routed through one of the pillars. You need to remove the whole top console to be able to drill and cut the holder to fit the switches and wires.

 

We didn't use switchbacks just we can't fit it up there. Did you cut the back out of the holder? We drilled a hole on the side to route the wires but still no room

 

Damn dude! Haha, you might have to make those loops smaller, and yes, you have to cut most of the back of the sunglass holder. The black area.

I put 6 in the sun glass holder and 6 below the A/C controls .. it's 10x easier to put 6 below the a/c controls than the sunglass holder. A lot of people piggy back wiring from one switch to another, I did not. It's alright for the ambient lighting in the switches but I wanted separate grounds for each switch.

 

Flag terminals will help a lot in tight spots like that.

 

I had to solder all of the connections to make the panel fit flush in the sunglasses holder.

Looks super clean and the soldering is piece of mind the connections are strong.

How did everything come out?

 

Is that the sPod? Or individual switches
