After reading this thread I decided to also go with the Scosche mount. I previously was using a CD mount from Mountek.

After much consideration I went with this location and it is working out perfectly thus far.

Thanks for the pic. I was inspired and bought the same mount. Love it how minimal and easy to use it is. It amazes me how secure it is too, even with a case between the magnets

I don't want to do headliner since mine = reg cab but pillar trim and kick panels might be interesting. Definitely wanting some black visors tho.

Cani see a few more pictures of the back of this mount, the one on the right?

Just a basic 1" ball mount plate correct?

    Should be sturdy as hell!

It's tucked under the door seal edge down, then under the dash, then under the edge of the plastic trim along the transmission hump and up into the center console between it and the driver's seat. It plugs in inside the center console. It's a 10' cable.

I'm running a CD mount for my tablet for GPS. I don't leave it in when not in use but it is sturdy enough to where you could. Have driven through some pretty rough roads without it ever falling out. It's nice because I can still see most of my radio.

Thanks! I just picked up the same mount and used the same spot. Works great and so easy to just toss it up there and go.

Went ahead and got a smaller and cheaper 7 inch Samsung tablet just for the truck. Works great with the CD mount I posted above.

The thing I found about the cd mount is it gets stuck in the radio after a while of being in there and it also permenatly warps the cd entrance

I take mine out when not using it myself. Haven't noticed any warping yet. I'm not worried about the CD entrance. I don't think I even own a CD anymore. Do they still sell them?

I have ProClip phone mounts, in my truck & my car. They are made to fit specific phones, and specific cars, they fit perfectly. They are expensive, but I'll bet I've been through more than a dozen that I've thrown away. ProClip.com, check it out.

Can you link to the specific model you got? How does it work offroad?

I want a mount that I can interchange with my phone (every day use) and a mini tablet (off road, GPS mapping use)
