I went with rattle canning my set up simply because I know I'll edit and tweak it over time. If you ever need to weld something to em, it's easy to just re-rattle can it. Not so easy if you powder coat. Now, of course, powder coating is more permanent, stronger, and better looking, but if you ever need to alter anything down the road, you'll have to remove it and you'll have to re-powder coat ($$). Just my two cents...

Whipped out a little update to the rack this morning. image.jpgIt's a bit of a heavy weight, but it won't break like some of the thin tube ones on the market.

A lot. Check out my build page.
I haven't had a chance to get really good pics yet but I recently got one of the first new racks from @Joshp767 (the RCI Off Road guys). I had looked at a lot of bed racks since getting my truck in 2014. They all looked like just steel tube welded together (which I guess most of them are but.....) and I just didn't like the design.

RCI came through with this new rack!!! I love the design. I was sold by the fact it is prefabbed to accept about any RTT you might want or have. It also has these badass side plates that are prefabbed to mount a pile of things to. I currently have my Co2 mounted. I will have Rotopax on both sides soon as well an RTT on top next spring.

This thing is SUPER easy to put together, easy to install on the bed rail system, feels bullet proof and really compliments the truck if you ask me. If you are looking into a rack for your Tacoma (or the Tundra - he just released that one) then without a doubt, hit up Josh over at RCI and get in on this one. It is fantastic!

Refilling tires after 4 wheeling. I air down to about 19 psi when off road. Afterward I pull out the Co2, air up to 35 psi and I'm good to go. Each tire takes maybe 20 seconds and my 10 lb tank is good for 16-20 tires before I need it refilled. Refills are only about $15. Much faster and cheaper than a compressor.

Rattle cans work just fine! Like @L3Goullon said, easy to strip and weld/alter/respray.

Another cheap/easy/strong alternative you may not have considered is bedliner. Some people use the rattle can bedliner which works and is super easy to touch up, but not as strong. I coated mine in herculiner (there are plenty of different brands that are more or less the same thing). For $20 a can at lowes and a $.49 paint brush- it's bulletproof.

Looks great! Is it wide enough to put a rotopax horizontally with a RTT on top?

This is what I want, something that bolts to bed rails and to the bottom of the bed! Any other companies that do this?
