My '98 is at 81,000 miles. When I got it from my pops it was a little over 70,000. I live right outside of Fremont, CA where it was assembled (NUMMI). There's no rain ever or moisture at all. The chassis is pristine. Haven't seen any rust on it at all. It's been parked outside for the past 18 years and it's still kicking. Damn clear coat is starting to fail on the roof, the body shop quoted me $650.

I'd do it myself but I don't have an air compressor powerful enough to run a DA sander.

I was looking at a '98 I think on eBay last year with something like 50K miles. It was a regular cab V6 4X4. The bid was over $16,000 when I saw it and the auction was far from over.

Sounds about right. Mine was being sold for $20k at a Toyota dealership earlier this year with 24k on the clock. Talked them down to $17k (before fees and whatnot). Actually, I talked them down to $19k but I wanted them to remove the supercharger and put the motor back to stock before I took it home (I know, I was crazy and at the time didn't know better...). Either they couldn't source the stock parts quickly enough or they didn't want to pay the out of pocket expenses to put it back to stock, so they offered me another $2k off if I took it as-is, I said sure. Glad it worked out that way now, lol.

There's a Toyota museum out here in Southern California (around Torrance I think) that's only open to the public on certain days, and they have one of almost every Toyota made from what I hear. I saw some pics a guy from the forum posted after going there and they had an early model first gen 4x4 Tacoma, brand new on display. Talk about drool worthy...
