Is the hitch in the top of the photo beefy enough for recovery? The Harbour Frieght website says it's load capacity is 10,000 lbs. If recovering with a 20,000 lb strap, is there a danger of the hitch failing? Sorry, but I'm new to vehicle recovery.

I have that one and Its ok But I'm going to buy a solid one very soon because its always a risk IMO and that thing its cheap. That little U shaped D-Shackle sucks because the pin gets stuck and hard to remove. I have used it a few times before and its been fine though.

What about using a hitch pin on the shackle instead of the threaded type? Maybe it would make disconnecting the shackle easier/faster.

why not just get a good quality shackle and hook it into the hole for the trailer ball?

    What it the pin bends?

That May work but I think it may fall out also but I have no idea because I have never done it.

Hitch pin through the shackle. So you don't have to mess with unscrewing the original shackle pin. This was an idea for threaded shackle pins that consistently get stuck and turn into a pita to remove.

Marlin has a receiver that you can mount so that the dring pin is parallel and perpendicular to the ground.

You'd need to drill a new hole for the hitch pin.

Mine doesn't, but I just have a standard hitch.

my warn only has 1 hitch pin hole.

the one marlin sells has two. one so that the dring pin is parallel, one so that the dring pin is perpendicular, but the hitch pin stays parallel
