I really like this idea. I'm gonna steal it once I get a swing out. :)

Thanks for the info. So you didn't need to flatten the pinch welds? Did you do anything to the inner fender to protect it from rocks?

Ahhh yeah, forgot about the pinch weld, have to flatten that out too, some people make incisions into the pinch to help flatten it out.

On the passenger side I put a temporary guard in place to protect the engine intake until I got a snorkel, I am thinking of copying this idea though...https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/long-travel-bs-thread.109317/page-3196#post-14060616

Like the photos of your work. Nice truck. Could you photo the custom rotopax mount you did to the swing gate?

It's not a custom piece, that it an option on the Pelfreybilt rear bumper, I believe it is just a sheet of steel maybe .125in thick (or a little less) with holes drilled for the rotpax mounting plate. All I did was drill holes in the gate to install 3/4 round stock to provide support for the cans, I didn't trust what is basically 5/16" all thread to support 40+lbs of gas and plastic hauling ass across the desert. If I did it over again I would get a Jerry can holder, the Rotopax look slick but the jerry cans would hold more.

Hey thanx. I got the pelfrey HC with that plate, and don't trust the all-rod for One gas pax, let a lone two

Several months ago I on a whim I bought and installed sound deadening material from Dynamat to try out and it didn't do anything. Researched up on sound deadening and ordered a kit from Sound Deadener Showdown, which I should have done from the start. After the initial install I was pretty disappointed because it didn't seem like it helped at all, but after doing a couple of trips it seems to have helped a small amount. I am guessing it makes more of a difference if someone doesn't have MT tires, but with MT tires the hum/drone seems to cut through it. After my current tires go out I may swap over to something with a less aggressive tread. I keep my back seats out most of the year and it always seemed like I got the most noise from back there so that is the area that I wanted to get the best coverage/treatment. I still some material left over from the project, if I ever get bored enough I'll try to deaden the transmission tunnel and any areas I skipped over.

About the only comparison I can make from before and after is on my typical trip up I15 from Socal to Las Vegas I would routinely have to crank up the radio up to 40+ to drown out the MT tire hum and wind. After my last trip to Las Vegas the radio seemed to be starting to hurt my ears at around 35. So it seems like it may have helped a bit.

I used this thread as a guide:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/audio-visual-diy-thread.173147/#post-1102277

    The Dynamat I initially installed:
    _MG_6144.jpg

Treating the roof with left-over Dynamat and Hydrophobic Melamine Foam. The roof liner comes out with a bend here and there. Its pretty flexible, and if you remove everything out of the cabin it doesn't come with with too much of a problem
    _MG_6135.jpg _MG_6153.jpg _MG_6157.jpg _MG_6160.jpg _MG_6163.jpg

Applying and Velco strips and installing Mass Loaded Vinyl panels in place
    _MG_6169.jpg _MG_6178.jpg

    Working on the doors.
Have to remove the plastic condensate liner, place CDL tiles along the outside panel. I couldn't get all of the damn adhesive off the plastic liner so I just left it on and replaced the ripped up plastic sheet with 2mil plastic sheeting from Home Depot. I used waterproof duct tape to help hold the replacement plastic in place along with the left over adhesive. I also had trouble fitting the door trim back on with the Mass Loaded Vinil/CCF panel so I provided extra space along the edges/clips to get it seated properly.
    _MG_6203.jpg _MG_6186.jpg _MG_6212.jpg

Lining the floor with MLV/CCF panels. I remove my seats every once in a while, so I opened up the seat mount bolt holes to make it easier installing/removing seats.

    Kind of....
I have been messing around with the UCA/LCA moving around the position of the wheel. When I had the wheel pushed all the way forward in the well it wasn't rubbing on the cab mount. Afterwards I adjusted the alignment so the wheel is further back in the wheel well and it rubs on the cab mount when its locked and stuffed. The mid travel won't be on the truck for much longer so I haven't had the give-a-crap to adjust the alignment again. Back in December @jberry813 gave me a test ride in his truck and yeah.....his front suspension is amazing......Couple days later I ordered a TC+2 kit. I Finally got the King shocks a couple weeks ago and I am going to start the install in a week or so.

Getting ready for TC +2 Kit....

Previously I had trimmed the Bushwacker flares so the front suspension could tuck in behind them, with the +2 Kit the flares are going to be in the way. Had to trim off the "flat" part of the Bushwacker flare so the edge of the flare is at the same height as the inside of the wheel well. I also changed out the hardware after @Socalduckslayer provided links to stainless bolts with a black finish, the stainless bolts always looked like an eyesore. Also the my trim didn't fit right after the cutting so I got some slightly thicker trim which I have yet to receive and put on.

Replaced my old bolts/washers with these:

Build is looking badass man! Lost of things on here I need to get my ass around to do (gussets, 700# coils, axles, gears, trim fenders, maybe UCA and LCA) so this is a great guide

Hope the spindle situation clears up, let us know what you think caused it

    Hey Andy,

Looking to do what you did to your Bushwacker flares on my buddies truck, @phils6s. Wondering where you got that hardware at?!

    Thanks,
