You held the transaction control button down for a few seconds a complete stop correct?

No just pressed it once so it indicated it was off. Had to do it every time I turned the car back on!

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
At a compleat stop push and hold the traction control for 3ish seconds. Should turn it off. Also putting it into 4LO also turns it off.

You will still half to turn it off every time you restart the truck though.

So if you stop it and hold it for 3 seconds it turns it fully? If you click it while you are driving and it indicates on your dash that is off, is it partially off and 3 seconds turns it fully of? Or is the only way to actually get it off is to stop and press for 3?

I was generally in 4 high

Yes, just a quick push only partly turns it off (not really sure why). Pressing and holding it for 3 seconds or so will turn it off completely. Haven't tried it while moving though, only when I was stopped.

I think pressing it once turns off the traction control that has to do with the breaks but still enables the computer to kill power from the engine. Holding it turns both off. I'm not sure if that's entirely right but it's what I heard. I think traction control automatically kicks back in at a certain speed.

Yeah, I think it comes back on at a certain speed, even after you push and hold the button.

So there's different things that switch does. It operates both traction control and vehicle stability control.
Hitting it once will disable traction control, which will give you some wheel slip but stability control will still override any adverse "fun" movements, excessive spin or slide. Stop the vehicle, hold the button in for 3 seconds, or until both orange lights on the dash appear.

Guys, guys... the quick push of the button makes the traction control STRONGER.
It turns OFF the engine regulation that cuts power to reduce wheel spin.

Toyota in its wisdom named this stronger TRACtion control mode: TRAC OFF
Trac is not off, the regulation is off.

To turn the traction control off you use VSC OFF MODE, and that is when you stop moving, press and hold in the button for 3-5 seconds (until the VSC OFF light comes on).

    Review:
Standard mode: TRAC (traction control or 'limited slip' with engine regulation + brakes)
Quick Press (moving or stopped): TRAC OFF* (brake assisted limited slip, no engine regulation, VSC is off to 30 mph)
Stop and hold in: VSC OFF (no traction control or stability control)

*In 2WD, TRAC OFF is called AUTO LSD... because Toyota didn't think it was confusing enough!
