Im having issues with the illumination on my AC panel. They are really dim and don't follow at all with the dimmer switch. The rest of the dash works fine with the dimmer. Upon taking the AC controls out to have a look I noticed one of the pins on the white connector shows signs of overheating/burning which is troublesome. I noticed this a few months ago and swapped out the AC control board hoping that would fix it but it didn't. Both boards are dim and now both have the scorch marks on them along with the plug.

Some other good information to mention is ive tapped into the other AC plug for switch illumination. I'm assuming the dim lights on the panel are probably related to this. But what about the other plug? The control board I swapped out was from a wrecked 12+ Tacoma. Any help would be great. Along with recommendations on where else to tap into for switch illumination.

I would have added pictures but something is going on with Photobucket and adding the links.

EDIT: There is a pic in my build thread that has pictures of the old one.

Did you ever get help on this topic? I, having a similar issue in my 2006. AC panel lights are burnt out. And my 4WD switch I added wires for lighting up doesn't work anymore either

No I still can't figure it out. Im starting to wonder if it may be the dimmer switch it's self. I'm thinking not though since the rest of the dash works fine. The scorched connector is apparently a common thing if you have the heat or air on for a long time. Atleast that's what Toyota said. They retightend the connector and said all should be good. I'm probably going to take it back into the dealership once I get home for them to fix what ever it is.

cool. Thanks for the update. I have the exact same issue and cant figure out what's gone wrong.

I did the 4-Wheel Drive selector switch light-up mod a few years back, and it required tapping into the wires behind the AC control panel. Not-sure if they're related- but as of now, the left-half of my AC panel is not lighting up, as well as the 4WD selector switch.

I've tried changing bulbs etc. and have no idea what to troubleshoot at this point. The rest of my light gauges work fine.

I read somewhere that it could be some kind of resistor or something that's tied into the gauge cluster that can burn out. But I haven't been able to find that thread since.

ive been trying to figure out what is causing it as well.

with mine ive burned out the "high" setting on 2 climate controls so right now i have only 3 available settings because of that damaged wire.
(assuming its because of that) i just havent had time to start checking wires
