Well it said it's a performance chip and I had to give the make model and year of vehicle to get it and I think it's more for purpose of gas mileage but some say it adds up. I just thought I might be able to get some help on here not a hard time from the say again guy and the posting police. You say it's not a chip . It don't look like a chip to me aither but that s what they called it so if you know what it is then I always open to learning something idk. Let whatever knowledge you have out on me here if don't mind, I'd appreciate it. Thank you

Attached are diagrams for your 1995 Toyota Tacoma V6-3.4L.

The IAT sensor is part of the MAF sensor located at the front, left side in the engine compartment
on top of the air cleaner assembly.
Our module wires (either one) attach to Pin 3 Yellow/Green wire and Pin 4 Brown/Yellow wire.
Please disconnect your battery before installation and keep it disconnected for 1 hour afterwards.
Make sure all connections are secure and splices are clean (can solder) because your wires may be thinner than ours.

    1. Disconnect the battery.
    2. Take one identified IAT wire and put the wiretap over the wire on the side that allows the wire to go all
the way through. (Nothing is removed, cut or disconnected - open the wiretap a bit so the wire fits inside.)
    3. Take one black module wire (either one) and put it through the other end of the wiretap.
    4. Once both wires are in the wiretap, you use pliers to clamp down on the metal tab to create the splice.
    5. Repeat the same steps with the 2nd IAT wire and the 2nd black module wire.
    6. Secure the module using the zip ties provided.
    7. Keep the battery disconnected for 1 hour.
    8. Reconnect the battery and GO!

Let us know if you need anything else.
    Thank you...PerformanceChipsNow

I remember back in the before internet days being bored and adding up all the supposed Gadgets claiming better gas mileage.

I came up with a number that I would produce excess fuel laughed about it then forgot till this thread reminded me

I installed this in my 13'dcsb, and it did not work at all, fuel mileage was worse and there was absolutely no gain in performance, all that is in that little "chip" is a resister that biases the signal to the MAF to tell the trucks computer to run leaner, is doesn't work trust me, don't bother.

    @Walker81

I see you got the install instructions advising how to connect this device using vampire taps. So if you choose to proceed, you should be all set.

Before you begin, you might want to read this article. I'm 99.999% sure this resistor 'trick' is what you have in hand. They've been around a long time.

One personal experience. Friend with a PT Loser (errrr, Cruiser) was in a club, and volunteered to be the guinea pig. Bought a unit that connects the same as yours, so its function was the same. We went to a dyno shop and baselined the vehicle. Added the unit, reset the ECU, drove a couple days (for it to 'learn') went back and did two pulls.

Power when down, motor was rich (ECU was 'tricked' regarding intake temp) Disconnected the unit, reset the ECU, did a pull, power was right back to the baseline number.

The club paid for the part he threw away, and paid for the dyno time. So all he had to do was repair the two wires that now had broken insulation from the vampire taps.

The good news is if you decide to try it, and you don't see any measurable improvements, it is reversible.

    Good luck!

It said if I decide to take it off that it will go right back to the factory settings. And I can do that anytime. Are they luring? I've also heard the same thing or close to it but he said he just took it off that s what a lot of ppl say idk why I'm trying it. I 've also heard that it does help on gas mileage and I drive all over Florida from Job to job sometimes so I thought I'd try it. Do you think these ppl that say they took it off Do I it bcs for 70.00 they don't see enough of a change and take it off to get they're money back? I waited til today to do it was getting ready to and wanted to check on here first. Do you advise against It?

You have all the info you need to make your decision.

And if that is 'yes', you know you can remove it with minimal repercussions (repair of punctured wire insulation)

    Only you can decide.

Well I just read everyone's comments and appreciate the input I really do. She's probably better off staying way she is. But if everyone is curious I'll try it but might just put in box and send back?

Don't count me in 'everyone'. I have no need to go around the mountain twice.

My story above regarding the PT Cruiser was enough for me.

Okay one last question I've had 7 of these trucks in last 16 yrs I've always just put a k&n air filters and done I just buy the cheap ones anymore and keep them changed do you honestly feel that an aftermarket air intake makes run better?

No. Just a clean quality one is fine. Wix, Purolator, etc.

The magic in Tacomas is normally reliability with basic maintenance. They don't excel at making power, MPG, towing or much of any measure. They do all they are supposed to do pretty much with a C+ or B all across the board.

BUT they get A+ on consistent and reliable. Which is what makes them valuable.
