Perfect! I'm sure that'll work great.

If you were going into production I'd expect welding to be the way to go. I'll have to refresh myself on it a bit out of curiosity but just guessing from a faint memory I thought machines might've been $1k-3k for a decent setup. I looked into welding seams when doing my topper cause the marine fabric I used is weldable as well. If it was something like a big vacuum sealer kind of heating element it'd be amazing to have one big long straight seam with no real effort.

Are you going to do any screened windows like in your concept? Another reason I love my new lighter fabric topper is cause it does let light through the face of the fabric, with the previous one it felt like leaving hibernation, waking up at 9am with sun shining in your face as you crawl out of the topper that is pitch black except for a pin hole or two of light. I guess the benefit is being able to sleep at any time of day cause it's so dark. Hah.

I want to put a panoramic window like that. But I need to make sure the wrap around works first, then I'll add windows ant things like that. The design is 1 single piece of fabric, and attaches to the camper with awning track.

Sweet idea. I'm moved away from RTTs but I'm sure you will have a few people interested in the design. Heck, make the lid just water tight storage with the option to have stand up room in the bed and I would be contacting you in a few months when I buy my topper.

RTT's are great for summer camping and I can't really imagine camping in anything less but I can setup and break down my ground tent faster.

This concept is more weather resistant and spacious than an RTT. Deploying it will also be a faction of the time.

I haven't done much with the new machine, but I changed the drive wheel to their primo metal one. It's super heavy, it's solid stainless, and I'm confused as to why and how it improves performance.

    We'll see how it works!

Only thing that comes to mind is that it's just like a flywheel so if it's heavier it'll have more effective torque and just drive through the thick stuff. Love it though! You're making me super jealous.

Yes sir! I'd like a fixed machine and for the same price there are some good imports. But with the baby space is a premium!

Well I had the sewing gear all packed for the move but one of my professors needed help sewing these two bags together to aid in chipmunk trapping. So I pulled the machine back out and quickly made this. Hope it works out for her. Nothing fancy, but it feels good to solve a simple problem no one else had an easy solution for .

I am settled in at my new home, in a new state, working a new job. Love it! Except my tipi is basically useless in this country (And I am talking about the smaller 4-man). Everything is on a crazy steep slope. While there are a few flat spots, they are right off the road and made for the rv folk. Any flat open spots in the country I will be frequenting is covered in dense undercover. That's if you can find it in the dense forests...

Soooo the 8 man tipi is officially sidelined. I am living in a tiny one bedroom studio that's barely big enough for the pup and I so working on that would be a headache anyways.

I am now transitioning back to hammock camping, except I am doing it right this time and making it myself. Everything will be ultralight and packed into a tiny package. Ill be making a hammock, tarp, under quilt and then a quilt/bag to sleep in. Thinking about making a small tentsile style tent for my dog to sleep underneath me.

Any advice from you outdoor people? Hoping to order fabric this weekend and have the hammock/tarp done by mid august for a 5 day rafting trip for work.

I don't believe she makes her own gear. Looking for suggestions on the diy side of things. Anyone have a good template?

I don't make my own, but I can send you in the direction of several small mom/pop types that already make great gear. Might come out a tad cheaper and less time consuming in the long run. Its the best deal going for uneven ground. I never have to worry about that with a hammock!

I absolutely LOVE my hammock(s) and unless absolutely necessary, I will not sleep in a tent again! (that being said, I also LOVE our teardrop trailer!)
