I don't see how they can't be required. When I was installing, I had to drop the axle so low (forced me to cut it) to even bolt up the leafs. Maybe there are other ways, but unfortunately I just had to pull out my leafs and swap sides...I put the + side on the driverside, and the 0 on the passenger....which turned out to be wrong. A goes on driver, B goes on passenger...my bad. But even my extended brake line didn't like it much. Just some extra input.

There are "ways" to make that axle obey you:anonymous: It is not easy to get the leafs off, but I'm still on my stock brake line (have the xtended one sitting on my bench).

Full disclosure: No puppies or small children were kicked in the installation of my OME kit, although the urge presented itself.

For those who are running OME coils in the front, were you able to use factory length sway bar end links? I'm looking to get my sway bar hooked back up since I had to cut my end links while installing my lift.

Yes. 100% you can. I actually just completely replaced my front suspension (already had OME shocks/883 coils) and I replaced OEM sway bar end links.

I don't have my front bumper/winch set up done yet, but you can still do it with 883 coils, in case you were looking to do that later.

    You can see here:

*EDIT*: P.S. I ordered my sway bar end links off eBay. They came "unpainted" so I masked the boots and painted them black.

Interesting footnote #3 "When remaining stock of N85 and N91SC is exhausted no further product will be available". Does this mean no further support for shocks on 1st gens or will a new set up be coming? Maybe I am reading too much into it, but considering spending some $$ cash on their system and would not want to invest into something future support may be questionable on.

nevermind. looks like that is just for old nitrocharger, the "sport" lives on.

How long do the OME shocks usually last? Anyone have an estimate?

Aren't most twin tube non-rebuildables lasting anywhere between 75-100k?

I'm at 15,000k miles. I'll let you know when they crap out

Edit: For the record, my stock shocks had 110k miles on them, and they were SHOT.

I have some on now with 882's a member was kind enough to give me his nitros with 881's but they have 50k on them. The ones I have now have like 40k on them. So I kind of want to just throw the ones with 50k on and not swap coils.

Any word on an OME group buy in the near future? I'm trying to hold out for that but don't know if I can wait.

I have OME Dakar rear/ 883 front. I got the Dakars without the extra leaf, but really regretting that. Anyone who added the extra leaf later, do you need longer u-bolts (I have about 1/2" of thread below the nuts). Also, where do the extra leafs go in the pack - at the bottom?

    Thanks!
