Is there a writeup on how to do this? I ordered the Hilux switch but want different color LEDs. Any help on what LED's to order would be great!

Any LED like these will work. You can find any color you'd like. As far as a write up goes I don't know of any. It's really just take the switch apart. Take the factory leds off and solder on the new ones. I know that which way the leds goes matters but I have no idea how to figure out which way they go. I just put them on, tested them and then rotated them if they don't work.

I soldered my new LEDs on last night. Went very well and looks awesome white. I noticed that the LEDs on the switch and the new LEDs both had little triangle markings on one corner or each LED. I made sure to use the mark as a way of aligning it the correct way and all 3 worked the first try!

I used white LED's IRL they look white. I am not sure why my iPhone camera made them yellow.

I used Rustoleum Universal Carbon Mist to paint my ring. I also gave it a urethane top coat. It blends into the dash perfectly.

Turned out AMAZING!!! Thanks Everyone for all of your help!

I have a question. My 2012 has this same plug. I taped into the green for light and just used a ground for the other wire. Does the White with black tracer control the dimming? Mine does not dim.

Great success! I had to try a couple different wires but when I tapped into the Green with white tracer it was able to dim properly! I love Tacoma World!

This mod looks intimidating but really on a scale of 1 to 10 in difficulty, I give it a 2. (minus the soldering of different color LED lights) The soldering part itself is very delicate and tricky. I did find someone that was willing to solder for me if I sent it but I watched a few youtube videos on soldering and decided I could do it. I love the challenge of learning how to do new things.

    Go for it!

Okay, thanks! So just to clarify do you only have to solder if you want a different color of LED?

    Correct.

If you don't want to change the color, then you don't need to solder or take apart anything.

I have a 2014 Tacoma and I'd like to confirm which wires I'd be tapping into behind the A.C. panel? The Solid Green wire is one of them. What's the other?

This post shows the Solid Green and White w/ Black stripe:
Machined Ring for Hilux Lighted 4x4 switch!!

It's mentioned this is for the 2015, but unsure if the 2014 also applies. I'm taking it little changes were made between the years.

This post shows Solid Green and Green w/ White stripe:
DIY: Gen 2 Illuminated 4wd switch

Seems like people up to 2013 were using this.

Appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

    The two wires are:

    Green wire (positive)
Green with White Stripe (variable ground)

White with black strip I believe is just a ground wire, the result would be that it would still work but it would not dim or brighten when you adjust your dimmer.

It's expensive to do, and I don't need it yet. But basically people swap in an FJ transfer case to remove electronics from the vehicle and to avoid getting stuck in 4H or 4L when you don't want to be
