You should be a bubble wrap salesman! So many good things that you used it for. Going to use some in my camper shell. Thanks for the tip!

    A little a this, a little a that...
What do y'all do with your fridges when you camp in a site that requires bear boxes? I guess this Q is mostly for the folks that have the fridge in the bed of the truck, which is where mine would be.

Lol...yeah, it's not too pricey and you get it at home depot.

The one thing I will say against is that the shiny bit can rub off onto your fridge. The buble wrap will become clear when it rubs off. My fridge is covered in stickers anyway.

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
I leave mine in the bed and don't open it within an hour of heading to bed, that way there is no lingering smells.

That's an interesting question. I would call a ranger in Yosemite or the Sierras and talk to them about it. I don't think I would trust a fridge to seal in any smells, the cost of being wrong is a truck bed that is destroyed. The fridge might be bearproof just because the latch is complicated enough but they would surely destroy it.

Last year I tent camped in Aspen Campground in Yosemite and they had bear boxes at the tent sites but I don't think they had them for the trailer sites.

If you had a little extra cord you could possibly pull the truck right up to the box and just set the fridge inside while still connected.

For that reason I run a separate battery. I had originally purchase an optima yellowtop battery for dual battery set up, but currently using it with a battery box so I can move the fridge around the campground or anywhere in general if there is no 12volt or 110 plug.

This is the battery box i use: https://www.amazon.com/Newport-Vessels-Trolling-Battery-Center/dp/B01AE2TG7G

I camp in the valley once a year and I remember reading somewhere if you're at a tent site, you must use the bear boxes but for RV sites, they want you to keep everything out of sight inside of your rv.

That was exactly my thought process. I ended up making a battery box similar to that. Last time I was in yosemite, I just left the fridge in the truck (back seat of my DCSB) but i only kept sealed drinks, water and food (unopened cheese slices, eggs, etc). We put everything else in the bear boxes. I also made sure to cover up the fridge with sunshades and a blanket so you can't see a cooler shaped item in the truck.

Would a fridge run overnight off of one of those compact jumper packs? Would be easier than moving a whole battery.

Sounds like the diaphragm is bad. ethanol really kills small engines they are not made to burn it.

Looks like that big ass tree on the section of road shaped like triangle in Lee's Flat. I've camped next to that tree a couple times. Lee's Flat has the best Joshua tree forest that I've seen in the south west. (Even better than JTNP and Mojave national preserve.)

Our first big(ish) trip! My wife and I will be spending our anniversary visiting places we've had on our list for some time now. No real schedule, just an area a day, taking our time and enjoying the sights.

Saturday morning we're heading up from Phoenix to Horseshoe Bend outside Page, then setting up camp just inside Utah at Lone Rock to camp on the beach. From there, Tuesday morning we head to Bryce Canyon to hike, check some local places out, and camp somewhere outside of Bryce on our way West to Zion.. Most likely around the Mt Carmel area. Wednesday we head to Zion for the same, hiking, exploring, etc, setting up camp south of Zion for some awesome views to wake up to Tuesday morning on our anniversary, the 4th (#Merica). We'll drive home from there. Should be a good time!
