Sorry, I'm not getting it. Why would you hack off two sides? Are you using oversized U-joints? That still seems like it would F up the needle bearings and lead to an imbalanced drive shaft.

yes it destroyed the needle bearings, but those were worn out and we put all new caps, needle bearings and u joint. instead of pressing it back through to get the second cap off we cut it out. we didn't have a press so we were using a vice and a hammer...made it a bit quicker and who doesn't like using a grinder.

@MattJakobs had vibes under acceleration and coasting, after we finished they were magically gone.

Using an OEM U Joint but that sucker is pushed in there tightly. With the amount of time it took to get two sides and caps off, it was just easier and faster to cut it out. The U Joint kit came with new caps with needle bearings so I wasn't worried about destroying the old ones, especially after looking at the insides and seeing some of the needle bearing gone

OK I miss-read it and thought they were doing it to a new U-joint.

Anybody know of some lightweight and (equally important) cheap 16" wheels that fit a 4th gen?

@LTDSC are you running Heim steering?
I'm building a set of stock length LCA's with a horizontal Ballistic Uniball. I need to pull more steering travel.

I think I'm on rack number 5. I'm legitimately going to add quick disconnects to the lines next time I pull it. I wish Ballistic made small joints that I could use instead of heims.

My only concern is building castor into the lower control arm. MCM fab for example mounts the lower ball joint an inch forward of stock for their long travel kit. Might get bump steer with the steering rack pulling forward
