I doubt it. 4.56 would be too tall making the truck rev up close to or over 3000 RPM. 4.10 gears should put me right at 2200 RPM.

I'm about the same lol. Got e rated 235's and lifted 2.5" and struggle to hit 19, although I haven't corrected for tire size difference

457 miles on 17.792 for 25.7 mpg. Not many long trips, the 1 mile trip to work is killing me. But it's been almost 3 months on that tank.

I sure hope you're taking a nice long drive at least once a week with it or you're going to have problems down the road. It may well be WAY down the road but you will have problems. The worst thing you can do to any vehicle is what you're doing.

Plenty of trips adequate to get it fully warmed up, just not necessarily every day. I'll be walking to work as it starts to cool off.

Been awhile, a lot of walking to work. Finally out of the cold weather season.

438 miles on 17.385 gallons for 25.2 mpg worst tank since 4/16/17 which was 24.3, over that time it's was 26.9 and only 2504 miles. I changed the oil at a little over a year. Might as well keep walking to work, 0.7 miles.

I did a short eco run this evening and got 29.9 out of a 2018 Tacoma rwd, auto. About 70 or so miles of black top country back roads and mostly 2 lane highway. The truck has about 1500 mile on it, with a K&N drop in filter, Pulstar spark plugs and a 3" cat-back. This is off the mileage meter in the dash, what size tries, what size gears really doesn't matter, because I'm just going by the meter in the dash. I saw my first tank of gas read about 19 mpg and I was not a happy camper with that, so I started changing things. The engine is pretty chocked down with the stock air filter and the exhaust muffler looks like a small 55 gal. drum, but it still has to much back pressure for good mileage. The 3" cat-back is for a 2018 v6, that I made fit the 4 banger. I haven't tried a freeway run yet, but I doubt it will be much more than the 29.9 and may actually be less, don't know yet!

Air cleaner and exhaust don't help mpg and yes the iridium 120k spark plugs worked just fine no benefit from whatever Pulstar's spark plug gimmick is.

You got better mpg by driving slow on a highway for 70 miles. No engine intake or exhaust is choked at 2000 rpm, which is where you were driving. Go 75-80 mph and you will see 19 mpg again.

How do you know how I was driving, I didn't see anyone else in the truck with me? If you think that you get the best air filter and best exhaust, best spark plugs when you buy a stock car that's fine. I don't think you do, that's why I bought different parts, I did get pass a few times, but I was doing the speed limit which was 55 mph and if you do the speed limit you will get pass anyway.

You call out my guess that you drove the speed limit in a 55 zone, and then admit I was right, thanks, 55 mph got you good mpg, not any of the changes you made.

There is a good thread about spark plugs already on this site.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-truth-about-spark-plugs.152726/

Here is a solid study confirming that air cleaners have zero effect on mpg.

    https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/pdfs/Air_Filter_Effects_02_26_2009.pdf.

At less than 2000 rpm at 55 mph how would a stock exhaust restrict anything, your driving style and speed makes the most difference as you proved.

Latest tank 496.2 miles on 18.697 miles for 26.5 mpg. Not a lot of long drives just around town driving and a few drives to Denver, usually 33-36 mpg to the airport.

My mpg has dropped by about 2 since the heat has hit here. Im assuming running my AC on max is the reason. Does anyone else have that issue?

Thats really not an option here. Anytime i have my kid or girlfriend with me its full blast. Over or at 100 degrees nearly everyday.

I run the AC only when it's absolutely necessary or when I have passengers, so I can't complain too much about the power drain from the compressor there. But I must say, one of the few good things about this brutal summer heat is that my engine warms up super quick and I am getting over 25 mpg average, lately.

After so many years of hard use I can not achieve better than 17 MPG. Compression down to 160 on average. Cyl 4 around 150. It still runs but will not achieve any better mileage.
