You should never have to worry about your frame i've worked for toyota since 2011 and i have seen less then 10 2wd second gen tacoma's need frames. As for the undercoat it is what it is there is definitely better out there.

They should have been added all sprays and frames get them this time around. i am actually going to see if i can order a set for my frame and install them.

As @JohnWR already mentioned, if they put the snot on your frame, part of that process is to install the plugs, so you should already have them. Most obvious place to check is on the frame right behind the front wheels. There are a few holes there, from what I remember. That way you don't have to crawl under the truck.

Link to parts for anyone interested:

Thanks i know this i'm a tech for a toyota dealer. My frame was replaced back in 2014 before i owned it. As for the plug i'm after is the huge one that closes off where the frame goes from box to c channel. Third gens have this and we are installing during the H0F process and all new replacement frames come with this already installed. Also the amount of plugs they include this time around is amazing toyota is really trying to make these frames air tight from moister.

I gave seen where the inside of the frames are treated. Check with who treated it or could treat inside the frame, door panels and hood.

You are in a salt state so you'll have rust issues. That said, treat it, enjoy it and check it every spring and fall.

I don't think your screwed...just something you have to work with.

Dealer did this to my very first truck and a few weeks later walked out in the driveway to find chunks of "rhino snot" laying on the ground for further weeks after! until eventually most of it fell off. If it isn't prepped or if the rust isn't stripped off then the rust will fall off with the stuff with it... After it all fell off I went back and drill bit wire brushed it off then coated it myself.

I have a 2008 Double Cab TRD. The under coating was done (for free) 2 years ago. I was just told that I qualify for frame replacement. To be honest, the frame looks pretty good to me, but I will take the free one. Ironically, I also got a new transmission (long story) for free at 70k, plus new frame at 120k = a fairly new truck.

I also received (for free), new front bearings and new leaf springs. I have no reason to buy a new Tacoma, but I kinda wish i could

Mine goes from really cold to less cold quite often and it is not acceleration related. I took it to an A/C shop and everything checked out fine but they evacuated the system and recharged it anyway for my piece if mind. It still does the same thing, and to me it is bothersome. My wife's 2015 Mazda 1.8L never stops blowing cold.

Can you refuse the coating, and have the frame inspected again?

I can't say if I have the hole forming in the frame yet, but there are other areas that are rough on my frame. Throwing a coat of anything won't fix it. And if the hole starts from the inside out, the coating is useless anyways.

I'm also in PA, a friend of mine is getting his frame replaced. Toyota told him it will be about 6 months. Luckily Toyota is providing him with a 4 runner for the time being.

Are you all getting a new card in the mail even after Toyota applied the undercoat?

My frame passed the inspection 01/16 and got undercoated. I'd like to have it tested again to see if I'm eligible for a new frame. I don't remember seeing another card in the mail though...

My 05 was originally passed 2 days ago. But called to tell me today they found a hole in the frame today!
So now im getting a new frame ! dealer told me at least 1 to 2 months as frame has to be ordered.
I have a brand new 1794 Tundra with 10,000 miles in the mean time to use. might not keep it as it has no cover on the bed , have no where to keep my work stuff.
Has anybody had a frame change yet?

6 months until what? They can get the frame in? I was told at my dealership it would be about a 2-month wait, but that if my frame needed to be replaced they'd give my truck back and let me continue driving it as long as the frame wasn't rusted so bad to the point of being unsafe to drive...

And I'm jealous! All they have for loaners at my dealer are Camrys and Corollas!

If they are replacing the frame, it’s unsafe to drive.

I don’t know anybody who got new frame and was allowed to drive the truck until it came in - that’s a huge liability.
