Looking to throw ditch/light bar combo on my ride, going to hide the bar. Do I need one of the more expensive kits designed for the new Tacoma? Or should I just buy some cheaper stuff of eBay? And are their any downsides to having ditch lights? I've seen a lot of pictures of this set up on TW. Any help would be much appreciated!

Ebay ones will work fine but this is what i recommend for the price point:

Only downside to ditch lights is i worry about automatic car washes breaking them so ive avoided them for now

Yes, the lights are the same. Cali Raised buys their products from Alibaba and sells them back to you. You might as well go to the source. Kind of like their $280 faux grille that you can buy directly from china for $140. It's the same product.

A bit cheaper too on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Side-Shooter-Auto-Power-Plus/dp/B07411H21B -- compare side by side to the Cali... https://caliraisedled.com/collectio...roducts/side-projecting-led-pods-sold-as-pair

Just about everything's made in China. There's definitely variance in quality, so YMMV. I ordered an LED bar from an importer on Amazon, and it was amazing. My friend ordered the same bar a month later and it was absolute garbage. Both were the same product page, just different sellers.

My point here is, Cali Raised likely does get their LEDs from Alibaba or another Chinese source. You're paying the extra for them actually testing the product to make sure the ones you're getting aren't garbage. Sometimes it's worth the extra $60 to not have to rewire lights 3 times and return 2 sets before you get one that isn't a turd...

Get the cali raised, you wont be disappointed. I have 4 different brands on my truck and the cali raised in my opinion performs very well for its price.
    Rigid duallys (ditch lights)
Cali pods ( rear of prinsu)
    Cali 30” (behind grille)
    Freedom 52” (was on roof)
    Heise 20” ( slimline bumper)

Attach wires to battery and done. No brainer. I sub’d this page so any questions post here when your installing and we will help u through it. Make sure to buy brackets and a better switch. I like the switches that look oem to toyotas.

I have had good luck with Auxbeam lights, but they don't have the style of side shooters that I like. I went ahead and ordered the ones from Amazon that synaps3 posted earlier to replace the spot cubes I have now. The spots are just too narrow as ditch lights for my liking. I've got the CBI Offroad ditch light mounts on my 2nd gen. Looks like they have a 3rd gen version too. Here is a pic of the current pods I'll be replacing.

I couldn't find a harness that came with a switch that I liked, so I had to buy them separately. Then, I cut off the ugly switch and spliced in the switch I liked. I'd also suggest a switch that is the same color as your other dash lights or it may be annoying. Again, I have a 2nd gen with orange dash lights, so I went with orange. The mictuning switches are awesome. This one says it is for 3rd gens.

    Mictung switches do work best.
I have purchased my 30" and 52" via alibaba. One that claims to use OSRAM chips. I havent installed the 52" yet but 30" works perfect.

I asked this question on my own thread but since we are talking about the LED...
Does anybody have suggestions on place to slip in a relay actuator for HF/Hi of headlights? Preferably under the hood.
Im trying to tap into HF to have LED work with Hi/HF, as well as regular switch.
Since I could not find "IA5" or did not want to create an obvious hole on Junction Box, I was thinking to just tap in to W wire on Hi with a diode.

But I really prefer not to electrotap or cut the wire and splice if possible. Is there any other places where i could detach a wire from coupler or tap in for relay actuator?
Or maybe best place to drill in the Junction box to get some extra wires out of the box?

F7319F1E-247E-4AE4-A950-AA1D701C652C.jpg I have the call raised plug and play wiring and Cali Raised ditch lights on my Tacoma. Was a super fast install and the lights are bright. I live in MD and it rains a lot here and have never had my wipers touch my lights. So I vote yes on caliraised and that you get pod lights

I run 4 Auxbeam pods on my truck for ditch lights. They are super bright! I also run an Auxbeam 32" light bar in the grill. I've had these on my 2015 and now my 2017 and not a single issue. Take the money you saved from not purchasing the expensive lights and buy a roof rack.

These videos sold me on the Auxbeam products. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80MSZ7LU2aw
