As the title suggests, why isn't there more info in ADS? I am getting ready to move to northern Wyoming and start exploring. I have a stock 2017 sport with wildpeaks tires. I am willing to spend the necessary money for a good setup that will be enjoyable to drive. I would prefer to drive fast instead of over stuff slowly. Can anyone comment on what may last longer in the salt and ice? Can a done comment on their ADS setup and experience? Thanks

I live in Socal and I used to own Icons which will be up for sale soon. However I am currently on ADS but since I don’t live near any salt I wouldn’t be able to give you an honest opinion on durability. However, they seem quite suited.

With colder temps I would advise to go with a part that is easily acquired and warranty ready. We see a lot of bypass fox shocks etc, that leak from driving daily in colder temps. Rebuild-able shocks are a good idea too, along with mounts or bushings.

I'm running the ext trav ADS with RR's in the front. Rides super smooth on road, performs incredibly well offroad, and since the salting has started out here in VA I've seen no problem with them. Cheaper than FOX/ICON/KING. If you aren't planning on tearing up the desert for 10 hours at a time, you should consider ADS.

I have been interested in ADS for a few months now but the price is really what is keeping me from pulling the trigger. I am confused why everyone is saying they are cheaper than fox, king, icon. I have not been able to find a price on ADS that beats any of those. I talked to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and she worked with my on the price but it is still the same as a set of kings or fox with adjusters.

ADS is based in Tucson, I've been to their shop. Extremely high quality, but expensive. If you've got the dough to blow, you will have a hard time finding better suspension.

I mean considering the pricing, many are gonna hop into the other brands that have more accessories. Yet if we look at the grand scheme of things the internals on the ADS are stout in comparison to competitors. I guess it all comes down to the infamous saying “go big or go home”. I can’t get over the switch up from my previous Icons to these ADS shocks.

Bringing up the dead...my big question is How Long has ADS been around ? And are they going to be a company that disappears in 4/5 years then we have no support for our suspension? I hate buying products then the support drops and then the company goes under and you’re left with a product that you end up having to replace with a “bigger name”

I would say that even if you ARE planning on tearing up the desert for 10 hours, ADS are your best choice. Im pretty sure it stands for Arizona Desert Shocks. The coatings on these shocks are one of the big differences in comparison with the other major manufacturers. Here are some more differences:

    https://www.adsshocks.com/ads_versus_competitors

    • Shock Body-Precision honed steel body which is zinc plated to prevent corrosion and ceramic coated for protection from the elements

You really cant go wrong with ADS. I have a full set on now for a year and many thousands of miles off road with absolutely no issues at all. We dont get any salt on the roads here but I can say I have driven on the Gulf of Mexico a few times and that salt/sand combo hasnt done a thing to the shocks at all. Its maybe not an apples to apples comparison, but in reality, i believe you will be happy with an ADS setup

You figured out how much space you can have between the adjuster collar and the mount? I haven't found anything in writing (like ICON) provides saying limits. Also, do you have the heavier springs on the front?

I do have the 700# springs on the front. I havent been able to find the limits however. My mechanic and I were adjusting the coil overs the other day and called ADS but they were already closed.

I did crank the collar down a few extra turns after adding the front bumper and it gave me a grinding, whirring type noise. I dropped it back down and it went away. I think the driveline angles were to blame here... we tried calling ADS but it was already too late in the day.

Call them up and I bet they can help.

I had almost the same issue, even with both drops. They are terrible about answering email questions. Ive sent them 3 emails asking about it.

I have had many conversations with ADS and they do what they can to help the end users out. However I have found that it is best to go back to your retailer for questions this way they can help you with their experience and knowledge and this helps to reduce the amount of phone calls and e-mails that go to the manufacturer. I know as a retailer, some manufacturers just do not deal with the public directly at all. While some others just read a generic statement to you and are not able to provide actual technical support. If you cannot get ahold of ADS and if you purchased from a specific company then I would suggest going back to the company for help and see what they can do to help you out. If they do not have the specific answer to your questions then they would be able to go back to ADS for assistance which is much more of a direct line.
