None at all. I ran Hells Revenge, Steelbender & Trifecta with it like that and it never budged.

I Finally got around to re-doing the tailgate gap rubber flap. It broke a few years ago but I was in California so it didn't matter but now that I moved to Seattle it rains constantly so there WAS always water in my bed. There’s more info HERE so I don’t photo dump in this thread. The finished product... Its nothing spectacular but it’ll keep the bed dry when I'm hauling things around

Neat to see what people are doing! Eventually I may pick up a GoFast Camper shell, or if I feel like spending a buttload of $, I'll get the AT Habitat.

Input needed from those who’ve installed LED lights (or strips)... especially those with carpeted interiors.

How do you mount the lights to the ceiling of the shell- do you dare screw something in to hold the wires/lights like eyelids, or just attach velcro and use loom, a less invasive option but I’d worry it would come loose and start falling in places.

A crappy pic of the carpeted roof and the factory LED dome light- its a Snugtop Rebel FWIW

Since I have the Thule tracks that bolt onto and through the shell, I used that. Aluminum flat stock, longer bolts, some wiring and zip ties is all it took.

For the sides, I measured the length of the center bolts (4) and then added a half inch at each end. I needed the furthest back bolts free to mount the long strip from side to side. Cut the aluminum stock to length, marked and drilled the holes. Next, on the opposite side of the aluminum flat stock, I drilled holes every 6" for the light strips to attach with so they will never fall. Daisy chained the lights together, mounted them up and voila! Plenty of light now!

Man what did you use to mount your spare there? I’m trying to avoid a tire gate and that looks like a perfect option.

I do not have a problem with the velcro coming off and a light falling. I have to pull gently so I do not pull the carpet off of the shell. :)
I have not tried a light heavy enough to pull the velcro.

I use Velcro for everything in my carpeted shell. My LED lights have been up for 4 years and I've never had an issue. I also keep a couple of knife scabbards, a multi-tool scabbard, cigarette lighter, etc velcroed to the carpet that I can reach from either the windoor or rear glass.

Can I see pics of these velcro’d items esp. the lights and wires?
    It’d be much appreciated!

I had the bolts from the track for my roof rack sticking through already. I replaced each one with a slightly longer stainless hex bolt and put a clip on to hold the led strip. I did use some Velcro over the tailgate and it does come loose. D1CFFC2C-89C3-47DC-BB2E-99036875596D.jpg

Unfortunately I can't afford to buy a camper shell but my mother in law bought me this tent for christmas. I built out a platform with supports on the 2nd gen ledges in the bed. We can fit an entire full size blowup mattress in the bed and still have 6" of storage spaces underneath. It's not great for everyday use because I have to take the platform and everything out whenever I am not camping.
