Just swapped my 2018 grill with the sensors for a 16+ grill no sensors. How do I get this warning off? I have all the options in the truck off.

UPDATE: Took the sensors out of the OEM Grill and mounted it inside the vehicle facing outward and for now hasn't caused any alarms to go off. If you are replacing the OEM grill with after market non sensor capability it should work.

O.k. I'm curious. Why the swap? What grille did you get?

I bet you could get the garnish plate that is made for the Pro Grille, and come up with a way to remount the sensor if you wanted to. Other than that, there may be an option in techstream to disable it, but then you would have to deal with the dealer saying they won´t do it for liability purposes. I think you have to refer to the first two words in post number 2.

I would attempt to mount the sensor behind that grill. Mine works fine behind the pro grill without the garnish.

    :notsure:

Also. Is the sensor even attached? Have you tried to attach it even it if is just zip tied out of the way it should just give you the little orange light not that message.

Here's a thought. Do what the warning light says, and take the truck to the dealer.

What would that accomplish? They would just say put the OEM grille back on that works with the sensor. OP's effectively asking how to disable TSS and no way the dealership will help you do that.

OP as to your question, I'm not sure if you can completely disable TSS, also not sure what issues come up if you get into an accident that TSS could have potentially avoided?

    Best of luck though

total oversight by toyota with this TSS and with the amount of customization people do to tacomas front ends, as well as lifts.

I doubt that senor is going to "see" past that metal grill. Plastic yes... metal most likely no

Which 18 model has chrome? There's a chrome ring, but the 18s aren't chrome like the years past.

I'm also wondering what he did with the actual sensor.... Is it just dangling around in there?

Yep, lets stifle modern safety features because people change things.... not how it works.

Had the same problem. Screwed the sensor to the plastic ledge behind the grill. That got rid of the message you have. The lane departure warning still worked and got the orange light for the pre collision warning being disabled.

This (2017) is the last year that I buy Toyota anything.

TSS can suck a big bag of hairy dicks.

Toyota is not responsible for what people do or want to do to their truck lol.

I agree, but I have spoked to some corporate folk and they agree it was an oversight to not at least have options "ready" at the start of 2018. Hell, this whole community forum is mostly about doing things to the truck, not just owning one.

Everything else has it so you might as well say 2017 is the last year you will ever buy a new vehicle.

I rented a Suburban last week (VIPS) and the damn seat would vibrate on left or right if I didn't use the signal to change lanes. Holy hell...
