Has anybody created or installed a type of built-in garage door opener modification for the third generation Tacoma?

Not sure how I would go about doing this. I think it would be handy as heck though...

I do not mean velcroing a remote opener to your dash

I literally bent the clip on my garage door opener remote and slipped it in over the headliner at the moonroof. Looks installed, cost nothing, took 30 seconds and my Leatherman.

I think you need the tech package for that mod, though.

Others have bought new or used Homelink-enabled mirrors from other Toyota models. Those are guaranteed to work. There's even a homelink mirror thread around here somewhere if you're interested.

Not 3rd gen specific, but don't know why it would need to be. All you need is a place to put the button.

If you don't have any blank switch places, you could even mount it on the bottom (or top) of the steering column clamshell.

I think that's a Pro and Limited feature.

My Canadian, 2016 TRD Sport has it. Might be part of the Tech Package (which I also have).

I bought the switch from Air On Board, and hard wired my garage door remote behind the dash, fortunately for me my remote was 12 volt.

Hmm, I have Premium/Tech in an OR and don't have it. Interesting.

New tech package. It wasn't available for the 2016s.

It's on my 2016. But I'm in Canada - perhaps we got that and you guys didn't.

    Ah, that makes sense.

Well, it doesn't, but you know.

I have it in my mirror but never use it since I don't have a garage opener...(I am the garage opener)
Is the transmitter located in the mirror unit or somewhere else?
I like the compass and the self dimming features but the mirror is too bulky with that thick frame around it to fit the 3 garage openers or whatever else can be used for.

Looks nice. I just set my remote on the shelf above that.
