Thanks, I built the trailer. Here's the build thread:

Here are some other photos from the trip

My truck was almost due for new tires so I got a new set and put the old Maxx's on the trailer. The idea is to have matching tire sizes all the way around so I can use the same spare for both

Just curious are the expensive coolers like yours worth it? I have a normal big coleman one and usually just use blocks of ice. It can be good for a week max if i keep it closed alot. Just looking for feedback to see if its woth the hundreds to upgrade cuz I see most people use them

I bought a Yeti and it does work really well. That being said, there are a lot of knock offs that work just as well at a lower price point.

Yah there are cheaper coolers that also work really well. I think the yeti is overpriced, but after using it heavily all week (beer and food mixed together) there is still ice in it 6 days later. It also has some nice features like being able to tie it down and the drain valve has a nice seal.

The yeti is also an approved bear container for those areas that require such. You can also drop it off a truck, stand on it, jump on it, or whatever else you want to do. It's the toughest cooler I've ever owned. And I've broken a lot of coolers

Keeping cold the longest is what im after but being a rugged step stool would be a bonus. I also use plastic dollar store baskets to build shelves to separate foods, if I can still do that looks like ill give one of these styles a go

Uh, yeah, we have locks just for that purpose, otherwise it's just a cooler

Wtf, I had no idea you needed to add locks. It makes sense now that I think about it, but still. Thanks for pointing that out.

I've always gone with block ice also (Tupperware in the freezer, water bottles) and cheap coolers. Recently bought an AO softside which is pretty effective. But I've seen comparison tests and a Yeti absolutely holds ice longer even in full sun, high ambient temps.

Block ice lasts a lot longer. I made up several quart bottles using this goodness and cycle them between the beer cooler and the freezer in the Dometic, works like a dream.

This is a great idea! We didn’t not keep the fridge at freezing, on purpose anyway, but rotating them would deffinately help. A lockable cooler is on the list but for right now we only keep drinks in the cooler all the food is in the fridge which gets locked up every night

Just found this thread. Good stuff!! I recently acquired a offroad trailer. What kind of trans temps are you guys seeing on the trail? I was cracking 200 degrees on some of the more difficult sections of union springs at flagpole VA. IMG_20180821_161945_253.jpg
