We have one, and it's the nicest manual we have in the shop if you ask me. 7hp 18x30.

Okay, I'm ready to get this going again. In the past month I've taken delivery of a lathe, and it is ready to make some knobs. It's also tooled up for the most part, but getting some of the more specialty items will have to happen in process as they are needed.

Over the next few days I will contact those who expressed interest during the hiatus.

What do you recommend holding the oem shifter boot up with an aftermarket knob? I have mine staying up with electrical tape underneath the collar, but when it gets hot in the truck I can tell the collar drops a little.

A 3/4" grommet from your local hardware store will fit right in there.

Bunch of guys in this thread having success with that. (My design actually locks onto the collar like OEM, though)

Just let it drop to where it wants to be. If you toss the grommet in there (and maybe kill the chrome on the boot trim), it looks damn good to me:

    IMG_20180610_065623.jpg

Or, buy one of @7r41lbr34k3r 's knobs that attachs to the shift boot collar like in the first post.

That’s exciting! I’m still interested when you get things rolling again!

    Thanks

Oh they're rolling. PM me your specs and I can get started on it right away.

I see others doing it, so I'm going to take a very limited amount of pre-paid orders now. 3 slots per week, no more than 3 weeks booked into the future ... 2-3 weeks lead time. This will keep me from getting buried under a pile of work, and hopefully everybody happy this way.

Would it be possible to purchase just the collar adaptor piece? Or it wouldn't work?

I do not have anything for that right now, but I do plan to develop one very soon (waiting for when I need to print more AT boot clips). @duckytw designed one and has shared files for it on here if you have access to a 3D printer.

3 slots remaining before I shut down, and would not be open again until 10/1.

I will need to take a week off (9/21-9/28) from knobs to make a batch of ornamental horseshoes for a local customer. I have to be sure all of the knobs are complete before I switch over to that.

Also, seat spacers will be run on my CNC mill over these next 3 weeks while I'm busy turning handles on the lathe.

    Classic.

My Dad and I watched through them all every few years, haven't done it myself since he passed about 11 years back ... might be time to revisit!

1 week of progress on current orders.

I am working on the remaining delrin parts now, then I set up to threadmill the M12x1.25 (shown AT knob is already threaded M8 though). After that is done, I can grab them on my fixtures to finish the other side.

I made extra aluminum collars, because I was in a nice rhythm.
