Well I'm not a mechanic but pretty inclined and generally do tasks myself. On the house cars ect.But this 3.4 is kind of a pain.I bought the parts this evening and wondering should I tackle this job myself? Any help is very appreciated. It may sound dumb but I've never had to do a lot of work on a 3.4.

3 to 4 hours with the proper tools, space, and know how

Tackle it yourself. When you tag team, things tend to not get tighten or you end up with misc parts leftover.

Nothing specific, no special tool needed to change the timing belt/water pump. Just a complete set of socket (having the correct size - 3/8 to 1/2 drive), metric allen socket, breaker bar, wrench/gear wrench, and air impact.

Should I just do the timing belt while I'm there? Don't think it needs it but hey

for curiosity... when you pull the lower hose / thermostat housing off note if the jiggle valve on the thermostat is in the 6 oclock position or not.

I am curious to see if you notice a lower operating temp IF it was at 12 and now it is at 6.

12 o'clock position for the bypass. Air rise in coolant, keep that in mind. So placing it at 6 o'clock, it won't be any good

If your air impact can remove the balancer bolt, you don't need the holder.

I'd just block off an entire weekend if you can. You will be learning as you go. I'd watch the Timmy time video first and maybe have it going while you do it!
