Where can I find a decent 4x4 2014-2017 on Oahu?

That one is perfect just quite expensive plus they are going to want taxes and fees on top of it. Maybe if I could get them down to $26k

As you can see from your months of searching, 4x4 2.5 gen Tacoma’s rarely are available. Especially ones that have low mileage and kept stock. You might be better off trying to find one from mainland and ship one here. I believe shipping a vehicle from Seattle or CA to HI was about $1,000? But, good luck talking the stealership down to $26K. :fingerscrossed: :fistbump:

I spent 6+ months looking for a truck in Hawaii/west coast. West coast prices are the same as HI and higher in some areas. I was not in a rush and patiently waited for something to come up that was reasonable priced. Finally last May a 2015 sport 4x4 DCLB 22k miles with a snug top rebel (bonus cause I had planned to get a cap anyway) came up on Oahu got it for 28,700. Flew over from Maui to buy. You are gonna pay premium for the 2.5 gen.

My advise is to buy private party, you gonna over pay at a dealer.

The problem I had with private party sellers was that they had some mods on their trucks they were trying to recoup funds for. Mods that I didn't like and wasn't willing to pay for or pay to have removed.

Maybe OP will have better luck than I did...or at least have more patience. LOL!

Yes I love seeing Modded Vehicles for thousands over blue book value. People don’t get it that mods don’t add value. The money was gone the day you spent it is what I live by.

Yeah I’m not paying extra for mods I don’t want haha!

probably have to end up paying more than I though and have some more patience. In a couple months I’ll have a bigger down payment and I could go for something as high as $29k.

But, but, but...my mods are beautiful and custom...which makes it invaluable...the fact that I'm even considering selling this beautiful truck is because I have other plans and priorities (i.e. having a baby, moving to mainland, etc.)!!! ------ the previous statement is completely sarcastic, and I do not plan to sell my truck. :quickdraw:

    $29K / 60 months = $484 per month
    $24K / 60 months = $400 per month

$84 per month for happiness? Yes, please.

    I get what you’re saying

Lol I’m hoping to put $10k down in a few months. Gotta calculate insurance too /:
Plus I want to do some upgrades so gotta account that too (; too much moneys but lots of happiness.

Anyways, let me know if you find anything else!

    Thanks

Insurance is a given no matter what vehicle or cost of the vehicle. And as for mods, look for deals and don't waste money buying something cheap or knowing you won't be satisfied with it, and then changing it multiple times (like I have, LOL!). As the saying goes, "buy once, cry once."

TW will cause your truck to be a money pit...but like we just said...HAPPINESS!!! :humble::kona:

I'll continue to keep an eye/ear open for you. And welcome to the madness!

Also, if you're on the book of face, there are a few local groups that coordinate meet-ups and also sell parts/tools/services and share info: Hawaii Tacoma Crew, Oahu Offroad, and Hawaii State Mall Crawlers and Pebble Pushers (to name a few).

Yeah but once cry once is how I live and it’s hard sometimes to drop all that money at once but it’s saved me a lot of extra money and tears.

Thanks for the help I appreciate it. Probably will end up just forking out the extra $5k ): but I want a Tacoma and I’ve always wanted one so its worth it.

I’ll have to check out those groups thanks.

    So ended up at the dealership with the grey 2014 with 40k miles and I got a good deal on it and a good interest rate so I bought it! Thanks for all the help. Now what mods should I get first (;

    Awesome! Congrats!!!

First mod: Definitely sliders and tires.

And what kind of build are you trying to go for?

    Save up for suspension lift.

I flew from Washington to Florida to pick mine up, don't limit yourself to this island. I'm assuming you've got a few years left here, otherwise I'd get an island beater

For cheap interior mods, I’d definitely recommend ImMrYo mirror riser and seat spacer mod for better lumbar support.

Could you link me? Funny I was actually gonna come home and ask for something to raise the mirror up because it's in the absolute worst spot. Better lumbar would be great too haha.

I got mine from this guy. I did this before the mirror riser mod so raising the mirror made a difference.
