    running 1.05 93 base tune, while using S mode today is stayed in 6th gear and maintained speed and accelerated up hills with a slow steady increase of the gas pedal, previously my truck would downshift to 5th or even 4th. This is completely different from D mode, needs to get to 5th to maintain speed. I'm not complaining, just wondering whats different than before, i.e. running stock TSB.

    Would the dealer have the TSB 04B04 update or is that something we have to get from Techstream?

    I’ll park my ford ranger work truck. Period. And drive the taco loging 200 miles a day if you need more testing or loging through the worst of Los Angeles commute, stop and go #Let me know bro

    Will they just do it or will you have to tell them your experiencing a certain issue for them to do the update?

    Look at the TSB and memorize the issues listed. When the dealer asks what problems you are having, list each of those.

    That’s what I did. There has to be a “problem” to fix. I also handed them a copy of the TSB.

    You will probably need to mention you have a problem. Here are the links to the two TSB's in question. Just let them know you have a stumble off idle and a surge about 40mph and they should do both. If they don't you can still do it yourself with Techstream.

    LOL! I am on 87 Base and love every aspect of it, well expect that damned old premature 4th! I am adjusting my driving habit to compensate, but agree, if it could just shift a little later and then hold itself in a higher rpm range it would be perfect (currently it shifts at about 1500, then immediately drops and lugs about 1100?, this is in the 48-52 MPH range). But again, my driving habit is compensating and am till happy as hell, and if I want to cruise at a higher RPM i just move it into SSP, but then i am cruising at 2200 rpm, a little high for around town, but perfect when when off-road, so all good, like i said, just adjusting my driving habit. Oh my truck is all stock on 04B04. Just a note to OVtune, before getting this tune my truck was basically moth-balled in my garage and i drove my wife's car everywhere - since this tune i have only drivin my truck, love it and owe Matt big time!

    Lots of shift point talk popping up again.

    Remember - if you are modified (tires / gears / etc) they probably aren’t ideal as those have not been custom tuned yet. Also everyone has slightly different preferences and what they think is “best”. What works for one person, another person hates

    Also mat is working on completely rewriting the shift logic so it can work the way it would traditionally instead of the overly complex way toyota decided to do it.

    There’s quite a few posts with more detail buried in here for those that want to know more.

    @Imphedup
    You do not need internet when plugged into your truck. You only need internet to download and save the tune/update files. From there you just plug into your truck and load tunes/updates from the downloaded files.

    @OVTune or anyone that might know; on the datalogger in the new flash manager, is there a way to add more information to log besides what is currently on there?

    I haven't tried it but I assume Mat set it up with the PIDS that are needed for logging the data he needs for tuning.

    Before i go fill my tank with 91 can anyone tell me if 91 base is better than 87 base for daily driving. I like 87 base when the truck is cold but when it warms up it seems a little less than what i like. I was thinking 91 base may be like 87 base when the truck is cold. I appreciate any feedback from who has tested both.

    Ok so I flashed back to stock to take my truck in to the dealership. I didnt have enough battery, about 12.4V then about 12.29 so I made 3 unsuccessful tries. I then hooked it up to another car, like if I were trying to pass current. It still only read 12.2ish volts but it worked this time. I didnt flash it back right after the service so Im stuck stock for another day or so but thats one way to do it if you dont have enough volts.
