Reporting back on the harness being used in a wet climate(Washington State), Ive got some corrosion on the plastic connection inside the engine bay. I thought I blew a fuse or maybe needed a new relay. but after some head scratching I found the issue.IMG_7748 2.jpg IMG_7751.jpgIMG_7750.jpg Heads up for anyone thinking about using the harness or having an issue. Im gonna grab some dielectric grease and see if the problem comes back.

Great walkthrough. Made my rock light install easy. Had to drill through the predator steps middle connection to push the led strip thru. Works great with the new dsim module.

@pwalnut thanks for the write up! Got it all wired and ran into the cab switch. Just need to add the dsim mod.

Do u recommend a fuse for the line going straight from the battery to the switch?

Thanks for the rock light guide and wiring diagram! It was a huge help. As a side note for the DSIM harness the yellow wire to tap off the a pillar dome light harness is in the picture below. I had two yellows in my dome light harness and had to trial and error it.

You can do this by following Toyota's factory instructions here.

Good investigating! I hope you got it resolved.

Glad it helped and that the install went well!

Yeah if it doesn't come off the same harness. It should be protected if it's coming from the harness with the relay. In general, you want anything going to the battery to have a fuse.

Great it went well! And thanks for pictures of the factory wiring. I should have taken one during my install.

Hey man! How does this play with the DSIM harness? Are they tied in together somehow or nah?

I have them both working together with no issues.

My puddle lights come on with the dome light circuit due to the @MESO harness.

My rock lights come on with the dome light circuit or my switch due to the @DSIM harness.

The MESO harness is installed the normal way with the T-harness being inserted in-line with the OEM a-pillar harness.

My V1 version of the DSIM harness is installed the same way as I had it before I installed the MESO harness. The black wire from the DSIM harness is tapped into the OEM a-pillar harness' dome light yellow wire with a quick splice connector.

    See below for more info.

The newer versions of the DSIM harness use the same T-harness that MESO uses. This makes it even easier to integrate the two together. All you'd need is a 4-pin JST splitter for the T-harness so that it can connect to both the MESO harness and DSIM harness. I believe Stew and Daniel are looking for a source to offer those. If those aren't available, you can install them how I have it - using MESO's harness as-is and then using quick splice connectors for the DSIM harness.

My rock light harness wiring diagram, you can see the DSIM black wire tapping the a-pillar yellow wire

Disconnecting the OEM harness, you can see the DSIM black wire connected to the a-pillar yellow wire with the red quick splice connector
    [IMG]

Inserting MESO's T-harness, DSIM's wire is still the black one connecting to the upper portion of the OEM harness

Is there a way to tie the new meso puddles into the dsim to run as if it were one of the rock lights. Sorry if you just explained that in the post and I was to dumb to see that haha.

To do that, you’d have to run a wire from the positive wire of meso’s harness to the positive of your rock light switch and use quick splice connectors or another means to connect it. I've been thinking about doing that as well.

Have you had any more issues with this connector? Do you know the purpose of this connector? I'm thinking of cutting this connector out and soldering the wires together instead. Just wondering if there's a purpose for this connector I'm not thinking of.

Still love them! I installed the pod lights in Dec 2017 and the strips in Sept 2018 and everything is still working perfectly. No issues with the adhesive for the strips. The lights have seen deep water crossings, dirt, mud, rocks, automatic car washes, pressure washers, etc - everything is still working great

They are now connected to my Trigger Six Shooter: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...accessory-concepts-install-and-review.638925/

That's pretty damn cool, and something i was thinking of. The fact that i could take my circuit and connect it up in the future to another type of wireless switch if and when i do build out the truck even more. very nice!

I plan to wire the puddle pods and rock lights both on the same circuit and plan to use a Dsim with an 8 amp dimmer, so they come on with unlock of the vehicle, as well as from a normal push button on off switch. I've got a pretty sweet wiring diagram from @Puppypunter and going to give it a shot. I'm going to use the same lights you're using and plan to test their amp draw to make sure the 6 lights plus 2 puddle pods don't over draw on the 8 amp dimmer. We shall see!

If you use the DSIM harness for the rock lights and MESO puddle lights with included harness, no dimmer is needed. The lights will fade on and off with the dome light circuit when you approach the truck, unlock it, etc

yes, but I’m not sure if this amount of lights may be too much for that circuit if I also have it on a switch and have them on for extended periods of time.
