I just replaced all my door speakers this week as well. Toyota should be ashamed for sticking such crappy speakers in a 40k truck. Sound quality is a huge improvement I have not replaced the dash speakers and I'm not sure if it would make much difference as these new door speakers are plenty bright. Overall volume seems to be about 10-15 % less than OE speakers, but once you turn it up to the upper reaches of the HU they are plenty loud and much cleaner than OE. They would really benefit from an amp, but certainly not required. I paid around $115 for the Kicker combo and it is a stellar upgrade for that price. Install time was about two hours and five beers. It's not complicated but you need to take your time to not break plastic stuff that's a pain to replace.

Yes, search youtube for the taco tunes door removal video. All the plastic clips are pretty sturdy so you shouldn't break them unless you really goon it up

where can I find the adapters for these 6x9's? I see the speakers and wiring harness on Amazon but I can't find the adapter there or on Crutchfield

Yeah those kickers do kick from Crutchfield and at $138 delivered to your door can’t beat it. The tweeters off Amazon are an extra c-note and well worth the price from both companies best part is all plug and play too.

Yeah the magnets on the stock speakers are a joke, I did the meso puddle mod so might as well change out the speakers. World of difference when replacing all three.20190615_130945.jpg 20190615_133026.jpg 20190615_154631.jpg 20190123_153717.jpg

Exactly. Set the trebble -4, leave mid centered, and set bass to +4 and you have a killer system when volume on the stock head unit is over 40. The HU does have enough juice to make these things jump, you just have to crank it

I never pulled the door panels. I used a tie down to hold the door panel out of the way for me to get to the speaker. Definately one of the best upgrades for your ride.

Never thought of that. Pulling the door panels is the only reason why I haven't replaced my door speakers

I’d like to see where others have these set with this upgrade. This is great info, I did the same install and have been tweaking settings trying to find the sweet spot.
