This mod will truly be a game changer and having the ability to PnP will make it even more so. I don't tow much, but can understand the value of this. Plus, it's a nice option off-road as well which I do plenty of.

I got a question about failure modes on 2lo mod. I originally recommended not to do the mod if you off road on your own. I always felt the chance of a failure of the 2lo (after initial wring-out) that permantly disabled 4wd was rather tiny, but now I do believe it is essentially microscopic when done as described. (Note, it's still not zero.) I have over a year on the mod, and others have racked up a good bit too. Not a single issue or failure mentioned by anyone after initial installation issues.

At this point I would recommend the mod for anyone.
If you do a plug and play installation, the critical failure modes are even less than the DIY, because of easily disconnecting the relay.

(A DPDT switch to manually force the actuator to the desired position is recommended if you want the most reliable mod for 4wd) This addition is not described currently anywhere, and is not part of plug and play. If anybody is actually interested in adding it some day, let me know and I will write up some description of it.

OP updated for @lapoltba plug and play development which is nearing ordering.

His solution is currently electrically identical to the DIY. It is possible to build yourself a DIY Plug and Play version rather than buy one, but I dont think it is worth it... just buy the kit.

For low cost, use the DIY mod in this thread. If convenience and mod reversability is important, get @lapoltba harness. His development thread here

I felt bad for leaving @BigWhiteTRD hanging this long, esp with all the legwork he did. I also really wanted this mod.

    Oh boy.

I've had the switch in for a while along with the garage door and rear camera switches. I got those about half way along and was interrupted. I thought maybe I would finish them today, but even though this mod is easy, getting everything how I wanted it took time in that tight area. After I got to that point, I just wanted to put it all back together. Hahaha!

I just wish I could have gotten elegant solution to people sooner, but manufacturing electrical/electronics is definitely not my forte.

I cant seem to take the heat like I used to, and I cant stand it when sweat is dripping off your nose onto the work. So living in Floriduh..

(I installed 50k btu worth of window airconditioners in the big 1500 sqft detached garage, and 24k btu worth of mini split in the attached house garage... it helps soooo much.

Not a lick of insulation in either and when the vehicles are hot soaked it takes a while to cool down, but it is so nice by comparison to just fans in the humidity. Even if they dont do great job getting the temp down with the lack of insulation, the dehumidification is wonderful for comfort while working. About $1 per hour on electricity, money well spent. Only cool when I am in there or plan on heading in soon.

The 24k mini split in 450 sqft of garage on the other hand, is sized to make ice cubes.

Just did the 24k mini split, all in I had about $1500 in it, installing it myself (already had vacuum pump, otherwise add another $100).

Should probably start an 'AC your garage' thread....

You have to get creative in a 1-car space; but hey, a tiny AC knocks the edge off pretty easy. 3CE4C7D3-040F-4B39-88D9-DC512E75C1D6.jpg

On man! It is not your failing in the least. It is solidly mine. I could have pulled in my neighbor who is good with wiring and such, but he's been bogged down by work. He's also twice my size, in muscle.

It was raining sweat for me also.

I don't know what it is, but I can't deal with a/c. It was probably something to do with growing up. I enjoy having windows down and opened. My folks idea of a/c, when we finally got one, was to set it to max and only max. No more wind in my face, just artic conditions on otherwise nice days. I seriously struggled when my daughters were heavily into ice skating. Hated it, esp in summer.

BTW, we were told that the FAA is routing our TSO Approval letter for signatures. Freaking unreal!

I feel for you. We have a two car, but it is well used and packed to the gills:

In that shot is a folded up trailer on the far side. Out of the shot is my motorcycle in front of the Taco and a freezer to right of the keg fridge. Above the Christmas Tree box are three bikes hoisted into the rafters. It was funny that the other day, I talked my youngest into a little bike ride only to find that she completely grew out of hers. She reminded me that my wife's bike was hiding up there. Too funny!

    Nice

We are hard at it in the midst of preparing engineering for mods for 'new' aircraft, whole new model.
Talk about working on other peoples cast offs.
(Note, the new aircraft are still older than I am... only in aviation...)

That honestly sounds like fun! Until recently, my best memories was our senior design project. It was a concept aircraft that was the idea of a few classmates and I. It ended up being the class project for our year and we ended up presenting it at Oshkosh for the NASA AGATE project.

I did have a very small taste of what you are doing with pieces of a couple projects. It is a lot of hard but fun work when the team is in the same mindset. Unfortunately, both went off the rails toward the end when aspects of the agreements were changed by one side. A long time down the road, the projects were successful. We just didn't get to share in the joy.

    Have fun!
