Torque Settings On Rear Diff Drain Plug? '09 4 x 4

    I don't torque mine. I just make sure it's common sense tight and I use new washers. Never had a leak and I've changed the fluid several times. Same with xfer case and front diff.

    The front diff drain plug can be hard to get out.
    If you do manage to get it out. You might consider using the Lexus Alternative plug.
    It has a hex nut fitting. So you can use a socket or wrench.
    There are other alternatives for the other plugs too.

    The more important thing to remember.
    Take the Fill Plug out FIRST.


    You don’t to want drain the diff first, then find out you can’t get the fill plug out.

    There is a trick to the front diff drain. You need to get a very short or stubby Allen bit in 1/2" drive to put on your breaker bar. The bit I use is about 5/8" in length, and it's pretty hard to bend it.
