So I've got a 2010 DCSB SR5 that does not have the temp/compass display in the overhead console. My mirror only has the backup display. When checking behind the grill, I've got the OEM temp sensor unit plugged into the OEM harness wire.

Here are the options as I see it:
    1. Retrofit the overhead console with temp / compass display - lose the hidden garage door opener. [possible, but not sure where to source this]
    2. Purchase a new mirror with the display and run temp sensor wire [not appealing]
    3. Purchase a stand alone display https://kussmaul.com/temperature-monitor/091-224 and run a temp lead [expensive for what it is]
I'd like the run a UltraGuage or something similar to display the outside temp signal my truck should already have. I had an UltraGuage [stolen about 4-months ago] but when I had it, I could only figure out how to get it to show intake temp.

Need help with any options that I'm missing. TIA

Clicked this thread because I was just interested in the same. I don't have an outside temp gauge in my gen2. Those kussmaul prices are damn near criminal... (hope this isn't someone on this forum...). That's like $1.75 tops in electronics. 25mm wide, basically just 2x 0.36" 7 segments stacked next to each other. 100 ways to skin that cat in general, and 100 more ways to make it show the temp. But that's not rocket science. I bet the cost has to be going into the plastics. .25mil is way too detailed to be 3D printed. Pics almost look like you can see tool marks on the housing behind the face. But, if that's the case, jesus fuck that's an insanely expensive way to go about that.... Some cost in the silk screen printing I guess too, but eh... that can't be too bad.

I get the electronics, but I can't do anything with plastics. Maybe the dude from this thread could print out some button blanks to fill up https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-ultragauge-mount.650532/#post-22609377

Edit: No thats die cast. Had to look at a better pic of something else.

Ive been tossing the idea around for the temp / compass module also.

the compass unit isnt too bad from junkyards. Ive priced a few and they range from 40-100 usually. once you install it in the upper console its all plug and play if the harness is there.

    Or,

Gentex makes a mirror for the taco with compass and temp on it i believe. You might want to check google or search on here. Ive seen a few threads about it.

    (1) Do you know which spec levels had the compass unit? TRD Offroad/Sport? I'll pull down the console shortly -- anyone have a photo of the harness shape/color for the temp/compass connection?

    (2) I don't want to swap out the mirror unless it retains the display for the backup camera. The options I've seen are -- backup camera OR temp.

Sorry for the Delayed response. Unfortunately i am not sure which models came with the compass / temp unit.

When you pull the console down there should be one white plug near the front where the compass usually goes.

    You can either:
1: Buy a complete console with the unit from a junkyard

    Or

2: Just get the compass trim and unit. For that install, you have to melt the tabs that hold the sunglass holder into the console and do reverse to install the compass unit.

But i will tell you this, if your interior color / console is gray then you wont have to color match the compass trim. I have a base with the tan interior and ill have to remove the compass trim to color match.

Easiest way id say is to buy a complete console from a used truck. You know, unless the console you have is tan.

Is the new.... "if I want to know the damn weather, I'll stick my head out the fucking window"

But also I do like temps based on where I actually am, not what an app/radio station/tv/whatever says the temp in the area currently is.

Agreed. Lots of effort for little reward. Vehicle temp sensors are terribly inaccurate. Just sayin.
