oil drain plug ????

    not going to be home for my 1st oil change on my 2011 and want to make sure i have what i need without taking anything xtra, so i was wondering what size the drain plug is and do you have to take the skid plate off to get to the drain plug like i did on my 04. thanks for the help.

    Probably a 13mm but just crawl under there with some sockets and see which one fits. You don't need to remove the skid.

    There's an hole in the skid plate where the drain plug is. The drain plug torque is 30 ft-lbs.

    I used mobil 1, the filter size is
    $17 M1-102 / M1-102A Extended Performance Oil Filter
    M1-102, should cost around 12-13 bucks and Mobil 1's 0W-30 synthetic, should cost around 22-24 dollars for a 5 quart jug. Since the engine takes 5.5 quarts you'll need to buy a seperate quart at around 5 bucks. The drain plug is 14mm and I used a crushable washer and torqued it down to spec (30 ft/lbs)

    yes but all the information is all available on here! I found the right way to change all my diff a trans case oil, what i needed for my first oil change and what to watch out for. almost all my question have been solved with a search.

    thanks for all your help. i guess i could have searched it , but thanks for all your info and patience.. love my new truck way better than my 04 which was great aswell. 7 years makes a big difference!!!!!!!!!!

    I didn't see where you identified which engine you have. The 4 cyl takes more oil than the 6. Better to have enough oil with you after you drain than realize you need more than you have.
