3D printed wireless charger for 2nd gen

Upgraded to an iphone 11 yesterday and I went with the Schosche version only because the other charger is now completely dead. The OP's design is great, and if I can get a new charging coil for it I would just give it away locally. Few things I like a little better about the Schosche is it's 10 watts and has magnets for the back of the phone or case.

 

This is pretty F'ed up to be advertising (and continuing to do so) the scosche charger. Make a new thread of your own telling about all the wonders youve encountered with it. Stop Sh*tting on OPs thread. There are several Tacomaworld fabricators that I follow on here (and have bought from) and never have a I seen someone advertise a competitors product on their page. DO IT ELSEWHERE!

It would be like some one advertising BP Fabricator's grills on HomerTaco's Handmade Grill Page. Its disrespectful! We get you like the other product and that's fine. Kindly leave this thread (silently) and start your own review of the other product.

Did you paint it? Is that some kind of bead around the edge, or does the A/T version come that way?

 

That looks painted and came out good.

 

Sanded the deck. From 200 -> 400 -> 800 grit.

Then painted the deck with rustoleum satin charcoal gray. (Really close match to our interiors. Just slightly (5-10%) lighter and slightly shinier). Then found this trim on Amazon:

Which I used two straight edges to cut one side short (so from a ‘U’ shape profile to a ‘J’ shape profile-If that makes sense). Glued the long side of the trim to the side of the charger (a section at a time).

And not pictured, I installed a quick connect under the cup holder as well. Sadly I take my center console out more often than I like, so now I don’t have to reach behind and disconnect from the power socket.

FWIW, that's how my 6MT version came. Pretty sure that's how they all come.

Sounds good, I'll add you to the list and yes they all come in black. Here's a quick example of the MT version.

 

Unless the chargers are coming with lighter color rubber mats, that pic doesn't depict the more uniform black color (that mine is). Guessing that's a factor of lighting?

 

Yeah combo of lighting and how the phone is picking up the mat. It's the same black as yours is.

 

Just finished installing mine. Was pretty easy. Used a fuse tap and tapped into ignition fuse under dash. Only issue I encountered is that the led for charging isn't in the same spot on this latest batch of chargers, it's on the side as opposed to front/back. Not a big deal but now only way to tell if phone is charging is phone light. Other than that drilled 1 hole, used 1 fuse tap, 2 zip ties and easy as pie. No dash disassembly at all.

Interesting. Mine has two LEDs - one on a side and another on the front/back. Both light red when powered and blue when charging. Still need to rig a visible indicator on my 6MT version, though.

 

Huh, never saw a light come on the front/back so assumed it was only 1 on a side. If there is one on mine it's not working.
