So now I've got Bilstein 5100s (and a leveled ride), BFG KO2s, Avid's rock sliders, and have been having a lot of fun. BTW, the 5100s and KO2s improved the ride in general over the stock equipment, whether around town or the interstate. And the stock tire hum I had from day one has disappeared. All in all, good investments.

I was thinking I could use a gun rack. While rear window racks are common they also advertise what I might be packing. I've seen some roof mounted racks. The ones I saw mount the rifles sideways over the rear seat. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with roof mounted racks? Clearance clearly is a potential concern. And I want to avoid drilling into the roof.

Get a roof rack, front runner or prinsu. They use the factory mounting points. Then you can mount you gun cases up there. Palano and pelican cases are favored for their low profile.

Currently looking into removing the behind the rear seat storage bins and installing a horizontal rack there.

As am I. Are there any "kits" to do this with or is it a custom game as of right now?

I also wouldn't mind a ceiling rack, not a roof rack, because kids' car seats do make it slightly difficult to get into the rear seat storage compartment.

It's a 2nd gen. I actually made this rack myself.

I want a rack like that just to keep stuff. Did you have to drill or anything to install that?

I didn't have to drill anything actually. If you look above the headliner, there is some sort of bracket from the factory. I had the correct bolts and was good to go. The square tubing is offset about six inches to move it back from directly over my head.

I ended up making my own for a gun that I bought specifically to be short enough to fit there and still fill my needs for a new hunting/ defense gun. IMG_20210831_130928.jpg
